Duo looked up from his pile of salvage at the artificial blue sky. >We live in an ocean of air,[1] floated through his head as he looked towards Earth and Heero. Heero, so far away...
~And I slowly go insane~
Heero stood, paced and sat down, the same routine for the last hour and a half that he'd been waiting for the meeting to finish.
I'm going nuts, thought Heero. I am going completely off-the-wall, lock-me-up-in-a-rubber-room, few-bricks-short-of-a-load, not-playing with-a full-deck wacko. I can't recall the last time I saw Duo. Kami, it's killing me.
Ringing. Quatre's head snapped up from his report and answered the phone. The screen was blank, flashing that the transmission wasn't strong enough to hold a visual image.
~I hear your voice on the line~
"Quatre?" said a voice, the voice that Quatre longed to hear.
"Trowa!" he exclaimed excitedly. He could visualize Trowa's slight smile and the twinkle of his green eyes. He reached out to touch the blank screen, even though he was hundreds on kilometres away. They chatted, but Quatre still felt the loneliness pierce his heart.
~But it doesn't stop the pain~
Across the distance, Trowa was also reaching out to Quatre, wishing he could see him.
~If I see you next to never~
How can we commit to a life together if we are so far apart? I have to help the circus that sheltered me for so long, my one true home, but Quatre can't give up his father's company, so we're stuck, utterly and completely.
~How can we say forever~
Duo sat back on his heels, sending out a mental message to his love.
~Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you~
He put a hand over his heart, and looked down.
~Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you~
Heero clutched his passport tightly in his hand, waiting impatiently for his turn so he could get on his shuttle.
~I took for granted, all the times
That I thought would last somehow
I hear the laughter, I taste the tears
But I can't get near you now~
Quatre drummed his fingers on the armrest as yet another flight delay was announced.
~Oh, can't you see it baby
You've got me goin' crazy~
Trowa almost jumped straight up as Catherine approached him, saying it was time, the ringmaster had to make his appearance. Trowa nodded and went to the centre ring, and began announcing the first act.
~Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you~
Trowa backed up to the curtains and watched the first act, Catherine and her new target, Armand, set up for the knife throwing act.
~Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you~
Trowa picked up his now retired half-mask- the new target wore black and green glittering chequered spandex- and saw that it's mouth was once again turned down.
~I wonder how we can survive
This romance~
Heero clutched his armrests as the shuttle hit a bad patch of turbulence. People just can't pilot these days, even reentry in a super-heated Gundam was smoother. The shuttle lurched. Maybe...
~But in the end if I'm with you
I'll take the chance~
It's worth it. Kami-sama, it's always worth it.
~Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you~
Duo sighed and sorted more salvage, not looking up as a silent figure approached.
"Duo," said a voice quietly.
Duo's head snapped up, and he half-ran, half-slid down the pile and launched himself into Heero's arms.
~Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks~
Trowa watched Catherine and Armand take their bows and sighed.
~I will be right here waiting for you
Waiting for you~
"Trowa..."
The End
1. From Bill Nye, the Science Guy.
So ends 'Angst-fest'.
D: I thought you had another one.
Not a chance, that is messed up, no one sees it!
