Prologue
Sirens went off in the distance, but didn't stop the queen or her assistant. The queen's sapphire blue hair fell out of the braid and her crown fell to the floor. Her pure white gown was tattered and stained with blood.
Her assistant came up to her, her eyes filled with worry, and asked in a high, reedy voice, "What shall we do, Your Highness?"
"Hurry, Gemini. Help me get the prince, the princess, and their aides to the escape pods and set a course to the planet below."
The aide ran into a room, grabbing hold of a four year old girl's hand a hold of a two-year-old boy's wrist. The queen picked up the young, three-year-old princess and took hold of the three-year-old prince's wrist. Quickly, they made it to the escape pods and the assistant climbed in.
An explosion happened near by and the queen fell. Still determined she got to the escape pod the aide was in and handed her the other children. Another explosion sounded and the queen hit the release button.
As the pod was ejected into cold space, the assistant yelled, "Queen Aquarius!"
Once out in the cold space, Gemini saw an awful sight. Starfighters shot at the Element, the queen's royal ship. One of the starfighter's torpedoes struck home and the bridge exploded. One of the children began to cry. Gemini looked down and saw that it was the little prince.
The queen's only child, too, began to cry. Gemini used her powers to soothed both of them and something struck her. The royal family of Capric and the sister world, Virgran, were on the ship. They had hoped that the prince of Virgran and the princess of Capric would unite in marriage, and unite their worlds. Now they will be at war now that both of the royal families are dead and the only heirs lost.
The escape pod finally land with a soft thud. Gemini got out a small holoprojector and set a message to her home world of Capric into the memory. Then she recorded another message, one that, if ever activated, would send the first. This one would tell the prince, princess, and their aides about their special powers, powers more forceful than normal inhabitants of their home planets. After five minutes, she set the pod on self-destruct and ran.
After a few hours, she set the young princess down on the steps of a house and placed her fingers on the young girl's temples. After a moment of concentration, the power stone and glitter disappeared. She knocked on the door and ran.
Gemi! the young girl cried in her mind, but Gemini blocked it out, tears streaking down her cheeks.
The door opened and a young woman stepped out. "What is it, mommy?" she heard a voice say.
A little seven-year-old girl stepped out with the woman. The woman picked up the little princess and smiled. "It's a little girl." The mother looked around and seemed to have spotted the aide, but did not acknowledge her.
They walked into the house and closed the door. Gemini ran farther into the woods and placed a small holoprojector into a tree. She kept running until her strength left her.
Gemini slid to the ground and closed her eyes. After a moment, she heard footsteps and opened her eyes. All around her were humanoids, tall with a slight gray tint to their skin. They all leveled blasters at her.
Gemini waved her hand and the light blue stone on her forehead glowed. A gust of wind picked up three of the warriors and slammed them against a tree.
A taller, more human warrior walked up and raised his hand, then closed it into a fist. Gemini rose into the air and began to claw at her throat, trying to remove the invisible hands around it.
"You will. . . never. . . get. . . the. . . princess. . . Tirank," she choked.
"We shall see," he answered coolly. With a sickening crack, he crushed the aide's throat, instantly killing her. Tirank made a small gesture and the body flew through the air, disappearing into the underbrush. "Spread out!" he yelled. "Search the area and find the brats. We will rule the Zodic system soon enough!"
