Petty thief David Clinton had already spent plenty of time behind bars when he realized that time could be on his side. Stealing and developing time-related technology technology to commit his crimes, Clinton became the time thief Chronos. The super-villain is like clockwork when it comes to making life difficult for The Atom, Barry Allen/The Flash, Adam Kent/Superman, Adam Kelly and the later the entire JLA.
However, in 2043, Chronos became part of an army of super-villains created by Visharon to prevent the first JLA and the Avengers from stopping his master, Timeshaper, from taking the Creator's powers. During the battle, Chronos and most of his fellow villains were killed in the nuclear explosion, caused by the death of Captain Atom, that destroyed Coast City.
