Darkseid
There is no greater threat alive than the ruler of Apokolips, Darkseid. Only a select few - including the original JLA (which was created to fight Darkseid), the current JLA, Lord Kal-el, Adam Kent/Superman, Adam Kelly, Highfather and the New Gods of New Genesis, and Orion - have been able to quash the mighty dictator's pursuit of the "Anti-Life Equation" that promises complete control of the universe. And even fewer can withstand the power of Darkseid's "Omega Effect" - twin eye blasts that can transport, disintegrate and even resurrect their target, wherever it may be.
In 2025, the newly formed (original) JLA, Adam Kent/Superman, Adam Kelly, Captain Atom, and New Gods teamed up to prevent Darkseid from invading the Earth. Their plan of trapping Darkseid in a time vortex somewhat worked as he was trapped but over time became a time-based being, like Timeshaper. Darkseid escaped in 2047 and has been randomly attacking the Earth via conventional and temporal means even since. Darksied's most recently attack was in 2072, when he teamed up with Brainiac to kill the Justice League and help Brainiac take control of Jack Kent/Superman's body. In return, Brainiac would kill the New Gods but the League was able to stop them.
