Original Justice League | Firestorm
A nuclear reactor explosion merged student Ronnie Raymond and physicist Martin Stein into one being - Firestorm, the Nuclear Man. When needed, the duo became a fiery powerhouse, able to rearrange the atomic and molecular structure of all inorgnic matter. Later, Stein merged with a Fire Elemental and headed into space. This left the lesser-educated Raymond on his own to realize Firestorm's full potential. He did so under the tutlage of University of Metropolis professor Ray Palmer(AKA The Atom), while Firestorm held reserve status in the original JLA. All that came to an end, when Firestorm and most of his teammates were killed in the nuclear explosion, caused by the death of Captain Atom, that destroyed Coast City.
