The Key
If there was one opponent who could unlock the fears of even the original Justice League, it must have been The Key. This former technician in LexCorp’s narcotics division concocted a potent hallucinogen that over the years had not only altered him physically, but unleashed the darkest corners of his mind plus a slew of senses and concepts that man can only hope to ever comprehend. The JLA found it ever more difficult to contain this warped genius with every encounter, since no lock, door or prison could ever hold The Key for long.
However, in 2043, The Key became part of an army of super-villains created by Visharon to prevent the first JLA and the Avengers from stopping Timeshaper from taking the Creator's powers. During the battle, The Key and most of his fellow villains were killed in the nuclear explosion, caused by the death of Captain Atom, that destroyed Coast City.
