Hordan Jal was the one of the greatest of Green Lanterns until the tragic destruction of his homeworld, Coalti by Mongul, drove him to decimate most of the very Corps he served and absorb the energies from Oa’s Central Power Battery to become Parallax, a being that could rewrite history and undo the tragedy that was the spark for his madness. His continued attempts to “make amends” by altering the time-space continuum instead made matters worse, causing the timeline-shifting crisis called Time's Doom. Yet in 2071, Parallax helped Trey of Rann, the first Gold Man, reignite the dying sun and prevent Earth from facing its “final night.” However, Parallax scarified Trey’s life to save his own and in 2075 found an alternate timeline, where his world was not destroyed. His plan to destroy Earth A’s main timeline and replace it with that alternate was foiled by the Justice League, Timeshaper, The Spectre, and Mongul, who Parallax later killed. Parallax also killed Justice Leaguer Plastic Man in the resulting battle. At the end of the conflict, Parallax was finally killed by Jack Kent/Superman, Doc Holiday, The Spectre and Timeshaper.
