Original Justice League | Steel
John Henry Irons had always to make an impact on others and he currently did. In addition to being an engineering genius who created and operated the SteelWorks techno-foundry in Metropolis, he was the hammer-wielding armored hero called Steel. Irons was inspired by Clark Kent/Superman to help others, so it was only fitting that the Man of Tomorrow would sponsor Steel's membership into the JLA. Irons fought proudly beside them for a time, but eventually put himself on reserve member status to focus on his greatest responsibility: being a surrogate father to his teenaged niece, Natasha.
Sadly for Natasha, Steel and most of his teammates were killed in the nuclear explosion, caused by the death of Captain Atom, that destroyed Coast City.
