The birth of the American Demons (formerly the Demons and also Americans) street hockey team actually happened before the official birth date (9/25/00) but didn't become the team it is today until September 25, 2000. David Moore, his brother Rich, his cousin Andrew played at Andrew's house is how the American Demons started.
One day, David was in Lunch talking to Gary about the NHL season that is on it's way here. David asked Gary, "Why don't we play street hockey? I think we can get enough for a half-court game." "What about goalie equipment?" Gary asks. "My cousin Andrew has goalie equipment." The next day we made it official when David asked Joseph(Scott), if I wanted to play and I said sure, I'll ask my brother if he can play. I show up to Sullivan street in front of Rem's house. Where I met Billy for the first time. Fred, David, Rich, Bill, Tom Willms, Joseph(Scott), former American Demons Dan De lorio and Remmington Starr were there. We played 11am to 1pm, we had fun and decided to play every weekend if we can.
The next weekend I showed up seeing a whole bunch of little kids there, thinking they were there to watch. Gary comes up to me telling me that the kids saw us playing last weekend and wanted to play against us. I said we are going to kill them. He tells he was watching them practice and they really good. Boy, was he right. They played with skates on, that is another reason why they were good. So we played them, and boy did we spank them in the 1st game. That day was best day of my life. I think some of the other players on the team would agree with me.
FromSeptember 2000 to March 2001, we basically played every weekend. Yes, even in the snow. We had some great times playing. We added a few players to the team during that time. Robert Cetin, Brian, Sean were the new add-ons to the team. Every so often there was some visitors playing for our team, they are Tom Willms, Dan O'neil, and David and Rich's cousins Andrew and Anthony.
Since march 2001, we didn't play as much as we used to because of the moving of David and Rich from Bayshore to Yaphank. They were the real reason why we were able to play every weekend. We had to worry about getting David and Rich here every time we wanted to play hockey. We were lucky to be able to play atleast 3-5 times a month. There were times when we couldn't play for atleast a month or so. When we played from September 2000 to march 2001, we played 6-8 times a month and had enough players to have atleast 2-4 subs. We were lucky to even have one sub each time we play after that.
Since December 2001, we play as much as we used to because of Joseph(Scott) getting his license. We now play basically every weekend now because David and Rich can show up every weekend. The American Demons original regulars were Fred, David, Rich, Rem, Danny D., Billy, Joseph, Gary, Robert, Geoff. Now the regulars are Scott, Gary, David, Rich.
We don't play the kids much anymore because we got bored of playing that version of hockey. Last time we played them was in march 2003, haven't even thought about playing them since. We will start to play them again soon, we'll announce when. But from march 2003 and now, we play at rinks: Ostego, Venetian, Deer Park and Major J. Post. We usually play people between 14 and 30. We play puck now when we're at the Major J. post rink. We might play the kids with puck, but we'll see the first game against them.
That is the biography of the American Demons Street Hockey Team. The name is of the team will never change again. The website might someday go to AmericanDemons.com. But until then, this is our home. We will be playing at every chance we can get. This team will never die! LETS GO AMERICAN DEMONS!!!
