My Favorite Artists

Joshua Kadison - www.joshua-kadison.com

Joshua Kadison is a Singer/Songwriter/Pianist best known for his early 90's hit 'Jessie'. His sound can best be described as a romantic Elton John. My favorite thing about Joshua is his 'storytelling' style of Songwriting. His songs are genuine, romantic and sometimes humorous. I had the opportunity to meet Joshua at a show here in Nashville in 1998. He sounds as great live as he does on record. Joshua recorded 2 albums on EMI, 'Painted Desert Serenade' and 'Delilah Blue'. The songs 'Jessie' and 'Beautiful In My Eyes' brought Kadison much success in CD sales and radio airplay, but happiness eluded him. Joshua wanted out of his record contract and he eventually was granted his wish. He then recorded two records through his independent record label, Storyville Records. They include 'Saturday Night In Storyville' and 'Troubadour In A Timequake'. Joshua's latest album release was 2001's 'Vanishing America', released through EMI Germany.

Dido - www.didomusic.com

Dido is an English Singer/Songwriter who still calls herself an 'underground' act, despite millions of album sales and receiving numerous awards from European and North American recording associations. What I love about Dido is that her music is acoustic-based but on top of urban, electronic beats. Her voice is beautiful, peaceful and ethereal. Dido was actually discovered by her brother, Rollo, who produced the well known band, 'Faithless'. Her first album, 'No Angel' was an obscure album until Eminem decided to use Dido's song 'Thank You' as the background for his hit, 'Stan'. Dido quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. Her most most recent album, 'Life For Rent', was released in 2003 through Arista Records. I saw Dido perform in Toronto in 2001 and it was an incredible show! I haven't met her yet, but perhaps I will at her Chicago show in June... :)

Edwin McCain - www.edwin.com

Edwin McCain is a Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist from South Carolina. Edwin gained success in the shadow of 'Hootie and the Blowfish'. Unlike 'Hootie', Edwin has achieved success through years of touring extensively and being inspired by those experiences. His 'raspy' vocals, acoustic-based style and genuine songwriting have given Edwin a loyal fan base. McCain's music incorporates blues, funk, folk, country, rock and a bit of gospel. His Atlantic Records albums include, 'Honor Among Thieves', 'Misguided Roses', 'Messenger' and 'Far From Over'. McCain's single 'I'll Be' was and still is his most memorable song recorded. Edwin's latest album 'The Austin Sessions' was released through Nashville's ATC Records. I have seen Edwin perform 8 times in Nashville, Atlanta, Birmingham and New Orleans. I met him once and he's a very happy-go lucky fellow...
