Fargate

This is Fargate. Once a busy main road, but now a paved shopping arcade. The area at the top has been the site of Sheffield's Cenotaph, and the Goodwin Fountain. A new Goodwin Fountain is now located in the Peace Gardens next to the Town Hall

Sheffield Wintergardens

One of the latest additions to Sheffield's "Heart of the City Project" is this, the Wintergardens which houses many tropical trees and plants and provides another spectacular sight on the city's skyline. The Gardens are adjacent to the Millenium Galleries which have a display of Sheffield's Steelworking past.

View along Paternoster Row

On the right you can see the former National Centre for Popular Music. These saucepans/kettles/drums (depending who you ask) has been used as a bar and club venue since the Pop centre closed but now has been bought by Sheffield Hallam University to replace the Nelson Mandela Building as the Students Union. Paternoster Row runs from the area outside the Railway Station up to Arundel Gate. This area is soon to be developed to become the new "Gateway to the City."
