Pittsburg, Kansas' First Annual Shamrock Festival, a St. Paddy's Day Extravaganza!
1:00 St. Paddy's Day Parade, including marching bands, the Corry Irish dancers, the first of many to come!
Pittsburg, KS
We officially nominate Pittsburg's Vonnie Corsini for any and all community leader awards! It takes a ton of energy and even more gumption to pull off a first annual anything and this was a rousing success! It's honor to meet people who work so hard for their communities and, let's face it, are under-appreciated! Good work, Vonnie! Let's do it again! Which brings to mind the hard work of Noreen (Corry) Northrop of the Corry Irish Dancers. W.C. Fields said about vaudeville "never be the act after children or animals" -- well, when we play with the Corry Dancers, we are in the children's act and it's great! Many thanks to all, especially the very talented youthful dancers, for all your hard work!

Alice and Jeff Hill are the hosts of hosts and a better audience cannot be found this here side of White Woman Creek. It was a great night to send our old pal and sidekick Lance Zed off to California with a heartfelt Irish wake (of sorts). We'll miss you Lance! Fare thee well, friend!

House Concert at the Chez Coffeehouse
Columbia, MO
Courtesy of the Central Missouri Celtic Arts Association
We can't say enough about Kate Akers and Central MO Celtic Arts -- we had a great time in an intimate venue. I've said it before and I'll say it again, MoCeltic is a godsend -- take it from a Celtic music lover who grew up out of earshot of Irish music! We're looking forward to the next time!
- March 31, 2007
Missouri Tartan Day Festival
St. Charles, MO
Interesting how rain and Scottish/Irish Festivals seem to be somehow aligned. It was cloudy, windy, and wet, but many were the toonz and songs. How 'bout Rowan onstage next year?!?
- March 30, 2007
Paddy Malone's Pub
Jefferson City, MO
Many thanks to Allen "Paddy Malone" Tatman for the "red carpet" treatment, the history lesson, and the fine and full-throated sing-along spirit. And that's not to mention the support he gives to Celtic acts coming through or living in Missouri. Slainte Allen!

Yes, we do weddings, and this one was another tear-jerker (tears of joy, of course).
- March 18, 2007
Community Concert
Luray, KS
The Luray community turned out some 30-strong on one of those rare days of 70 degrees and almost no wind in north central Kansas. We played in an awesome stone church perfect for house concerts and photography, and we met numerous and great folk who inhabit this part of the state! Photos are up in our gallery.

- March 15, 2007
Union Station
Kansas City, Missouri
Courtesy of Kansas City Music Connection
An interesting sound experience, indeed. There was some old guy sitting in the middle of the floor trying to hear us, and he kept listening intently even when we weren't playing. I think he's still there . . . I hope he hears whatever it is he's listening for . . .
- February 24, 2007
Ironhorse Concert Hall
315 S. Main
El Dorado, KS
Wow -- besides one of the best folk music audiences in the state -- which you know you can count on at the Iron Horse, this was the day we had rain, storms, tornadoes, snow, and the most bizarre sky I've seen in nearly a half century. What a day!
- January 18-21, 2007
Celtic Connections Eureka
A Celebration of Celtic Heritage
Eureka Springs, Arkansas
Steve and Gerry did it again! Only better! This was a great weekend of Celtic entertainment; along with Rowan, Tartanic, Ed Miller, Beth Patterson, and others kept the fires roaring on the southern edge of the worst ice storm I've ever seen and I've seen some bad ones. And then there was the snow . . . well, it WAS January . . . Let's do it again!!
- January 6, 2007

- May 28-29, 2006
Nebraska Renaissance Festival
Omaha, NE
This festival was a great success mainly due to Greg Schmidt's hard work and the cooperative weather. And we must tip our Renaissance hats to the folks at the Old Market in downtown Omaha! Rowan drew a crowd on the street corner and they were treated to some fine Celtic music and an intense mosh pit (participants' average age: 4 years).
- May 27, 2006
Multi-Cultural Festival
Salem, MO
It would be a grand thing if every community had an event like this! Rowan, bluegrass and gospel music, a Pow-wow, great folks and a great sense of history and heritage. A Roots Music event to remember and look forward to -- hats off to the Salem Area Arts Council!

ArtsFest on Walnut St.
Springfield, MO
As an alumnus of Missouri State University, it was great to make our way to Springfield. I have to say Kenny, (Kenny Knauer, the perennial fixture of all things folk and roots in Springfield), you don't look half bad soaking wet. Next year, it will be sunshine the whole weekend!
- April 2, 2006
Appreciation picnic for Lawrence, KS Parks and Recreation employees.
On the Gazebo in South Park. Pretty fun considering the wind speeds were clocked at over 300 mph and Marianne's setlist ended up in Chicago. Only a slight exaggeration -- but free drinks, hot dogs, and chocolate cake! No wind can diminish THAT!

Free beer at this one -- and a nice bunch of uninhibited folks looking for an excuse to dance. That's what we're talkin' 'bout!
- March 17, 2006
Topeka St. Patrick's Day Festivities
Well, the cold weather drove us inside, but the parade was incredible! We had a great time playing in the old Jayhawk Tower banquet room. As for you who thought singing the Notre Dame fight song was a St. Paddy's Day ritual -- try it next year and I'll show you my shileligh!
- Also on St. Paddy's Day
Annual Conference of the Association of
College Unions International and a marathon at the 12th Street Lounge in downtown KC, MO
Somewhere between 500 and 100,000 College Union folk were entertained by us in the biggest banquet hall I, a humble country boy, have ever seen. Later, we took on televised March Madness and were the last ones standing!! AND I now know how to say "Donnchadh." Thanks to Dave Shaughnessy for the referral!
- March 16, 2006, Junction City, KS
With the Lincoln (NE) Irish Dancers
This music was made for dancing, and dance they did! Complete with corned beef and cabbage, wine, and great company! Courtesy of the Junction City Arts Council and the Kansas Arts Commission. And we're doin' it again next year!
- January 20-22, 2006, Eureka Springs, AR
Celtic Weekend in Eureka Springs
Wow. The twin powers of Celtic Music and Eureka Springs were a combination that conjured up more than a few of the ancestors. Rowan and Tartanic were the vehicles for an amazing weekend of music, dance, revelry, and friends that is what this music is all about. The Pied Piper Pub (thanks Fatima! You're awesome!) and the Garden of Dreams B&B played the hosts, and Steve and Gerry at PaperMoon Attractions made it happen, (thanks to them for the "Eureka moment" -- you know what I'm talkin' 'bout!). And thanks to the Crescent Hotel for participating in this phenomenon. Will they do it again? Oh yes, it will happen again . . .
- January 14, 2006
Ironhorse Concert Hall
315 S. Main
