Missing DLLs
You can install the ICQ program along with all the necessary DLL files by downloading the full version (1.57mb).
You will find this option by downloading from our site at: https://www.angelfire.com/hi/Bartosiaks/downloadz.html
1.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
2.Quit all other applications.
3.Locate the installation file on your hard disk called ICQ98a.exe or ICQupdater.exe and double click.
4.Follow the on-screen registration instructions.
If you have upgraded to Win95 then you will need to download ICQ for Win95. You can try to delete msvcrt40.dll for win32s and then re-download ICQ for Win 95 from: https://www.angelfire.com/hi/Bartosiaks/downloadz.html
If the problem persists, please start your computer in DOS mode, locate the MFC42.DLL and rename it. Now restart your computer and install ICQ again.
Windows 3.x users:
1.If you receive an error message related to comctl32.dll, try downloading win32s from this link:
www.mirabilis.com/pub/win31/pw1118s.exe.
2.After you download the file, copy it to a temporary directory (folder) and double click it in order to extract
the files into that directory.
3.Afterwards, locate the setup file (setup.exe) in this directory, double click it, and follow the instructions on
screen.
A Fatal Exception Error During Installation
Introduction
1.Older Version of ICQ. Did you download an older version?
2.Don't have an open communication link. You currently do not have an open communication link between your
computer and our server.
3.Our system is under maintenance. You are connecting on one of those rare occasion that our database or
servers are under maintenance.
4.You are behind a firewall. You are in an organization and work behind a firewall that should be configured to
work with ICQ.
5.Non-Compatible Dialer. If you have Windows 95 and you are using the Microsoft Dialer which is part of the
operating system, you shouldn't experience any problems, but if you are using a dialer provided to you by your
ISP, please read further.
If you are using Windows 3.xx, your dialer maybe be non-compatible. Please read further.
In Windows 95:
Click on the Start Button in the Task Bar.
Next, Click on Programs.
Choose Mirabilis ICQ.
Click on ICQ.
In Windows 3.xx:
Go to the Program Manager.
Double-Click on the ICQ Folder.
Double-Click on ICQ.
If your version of ICQ is not up-to-date, you can download an update file at http://www.icq.com/download/step-by-step-updater.html

We advise you to contact your Internet Provider and ask if you can use Windows95's built-in Dial-Up Networking, or
WindowsNT's Remote Access Services with their service.
If you have Problems Connecting using Netcom's NetCruiser Internet Dialer:
NetCruiser 2.0 or earlier does not have a winsock 1.1 compliant winsock and prevents ICQ from operating properly.
Obtain the latest NetCruiser. If you are running Windows 95, use Dialup Networking.
If you have Problems Connecting using CompuServe's Internet Dialer:
Download the newest compuserve software client from http://www.compuserve.com/
If you have Problems Connecting using IBM's Internet Dialer:
