The Ticker Tape Parade!

I am one of the fans who dragged themselves up early monday morning for the ticker-tape parade, and boy, was it worth it.

Not just because I got outta school. Even though I was baracaded back by policeman as the Yankees rolled by, sharing the binoculars I bring to the games with my sister, it was worth it.

Even though not an ounce of ticker-tape landed within ten feet of me, it was worth it.

Even though I spent half the time with a little boy I didn't know on my shoulders so ONE of us could see the parade, it was worth it.

And, you know what? Even though I was coated... absolutely coated with grease from climbing up a truck at the very end, it was worth it.

Why? Maybe because I could see Boomer standing high on his float, waving around his finger, shouting, with the biggest grin I've ever seen. Maybe because I could see Scott Brosius grinning for all he was worth, riding on his float for his first and maybe last time as a Yankee.

Not to knock those who couldn't go...six hours of transportation may not be worth it to you. And for those who begged and pleaded...they'll be another.

In New York, with the Yankees, there will always be another.
