Ky sat in the chair facing Davyn's desk. She sat with her feet tucked up underneath her. Her long brown hair cascaded down her back. She was clearly upset about something. She waited for Davyn to finish talking on the phone.
"Alright. . . .Thank you . . . .Good Bye." Davyn said, then hung up the phone. He turned to face Ky. "Good afternoon, Peanut." He smiled,
"What's wrong?"
Ky took a strand of her long hair and started twisting it around her finger. She looked at Davyn's smiling face and sighed. "It's the sim they have me doing." She started in a quiet voice.
"What's wrong with it?"
"It's. . . .Well. . . .It's. . . .It's just not right!"
Ky sighed again, "Well, they have me getting information from some kid named Steven. But it's the way I'm to get the info. They want me to. . . . well. . . .Do my job I guess. I really don't like my 'job'" She started twisting her hair a little faster. "What should I do? The sim is just NOT right, but if I don't do it correctly then I'm in trouble."
Davyn's smile faded as he listened. ~~They're getting as bad as Syd's.~~ He thought to himself. "Well, Ky, Have you told Glen how you feel about this?"
Ky nodded, still twisting her hair. "He told me to do it anyway. I don't understand why I have to do things like this! There must be a nicer, easier way to get the information."
"Davyn!! I need to talk to You!!" Obsydian announced as she stormed through the door.
Davyn looked up calmly and Ky tried to keep herself out of sight.
"What is it Little one?" Davyn asked Syd.
"It's that 'Student' you have me working with! He's totally useless and besides, I work Alone!"
Ky peered around the chair, at Obsydian. She had seen this girl before. But She worked with Davyn? Ky thought she knew ALL of Davyn's 'students' ~~Who is this girl?~~ She thought to herself as she cleared her throat loudly.
Syd turned and looked at the girl in the chair. "Oh, Great!" She groaned, "Just what I need, YOU again!"
Ky glared back at Obsydian. "What exactly do you mean by that? I was here first, This is MY meeting."
Davyn said nothing, instead he watched the girls with increasing interest. The girls continued to argue. Ky's face went from upset and confused to angry. Syd's expression never changed. Her face stayed stone cold.
Ky turned to Davyn, "WHO is she?" She demanded, pointing to Obsydian. Syd just glared.
Davyn laughed slightly. "This is Obsydian." He introduced, "Syd, this is Kyerra. Kyerra is my first and one of my most trusted students."
Syd continued glaring at Ky. "What do you mean? I thought I was you first and TOP student?"
"You're one of my top students. Ky is the other. She's been with me since she first arrived at the Centre."
Ky smiled proudly inspite of this annoying intrusion.
Davyn continued, "This really isn't how I had planned for you two to meet."
Obsydian looked at Ky's smile and frowned again. She turned back to Davyn. "What do you mean? How did you mean for us to meet?"
Davyn shrugged. "Not exactly sure, But not like this."
Kyerra stood up. "I have to go. Davyn, I'll talk to you later, when we can be alone." She glared at Syd then slipped noiselessly out the door.
Davyn nodded at Ky's retreating figure, then turned back to Obsydian. "Now, What was it you needed?"
Syd shrugged off the question. She looked Davyn in the eyes. "Why didn't I know about her?"
Davyn sighed, "I never knew just how to tell you about her. She's a lot like you."
"Did she know about me?"
Davyn shook his head. "I was afraid this is how it would end up. She doesn't like people. She keeps to herself, sometimes I can draw her out and get her to talk to me."
Obsydian contniued staring at Davyn.
"She's been hurt too many times. I don't think she trusts herself, even. She usually does what she's told without complaint. I worry about her, as I do you."
Syd looked up at the clock and frowned. "I have to go. I have a few sims to run with Michael."
Davyn nodded. "Be well Little one. Let not this discovery trouble you too much."
Syd winced slightly at her pet name, then slipped from the room.
"I have a feeling that this is not to be the last argument those two will have." Davyn said to the empty room. "I believe they are going to be wonderful enemies."
Kyerra wandered through the halls, weaving her way amongst the shadows. She had lied to Davyn. She hadn't really needed to leave, but she felt uncomfortable around Obsydian. ~~Who is she? Why didn't Davyn tell me about her until today?~~ So many questions ran through her head. ~~How can I trust him now? After he deceived me like that?~~ She stopped at the door to her quarters and looked around before going inside. Once inside, she slipped off her shoes and moved around in the darkness. She went to the kitchen and fixed herself a glass of water. She flipped on the lights and looked around.
Her quarters were small and dimly lit. They consisted of one room, serving as both the kitchen and bedroom. Her bead was small and had very thin blankets. The kitchen part consisted of a small stove and a sink. In the back was a small washroom.
,  ,  ,  ,   Kyerra finished her water, then sat down on her bed. She took her laptop off the shelf above her bed and started searching the mainframe for the name "Obsydian". She didn't find much. Someone didn't want anything to be known about this girl. ~~Perhaps she has another name.~~ Ky thought, looking at the computer screen. ~~Maybe Davyn's files will have something on her.~~ She stretched and put her laptop away. She looked at her watch and sighed. "Two hours till my next sim." She yawned, "I think I'll take a nap. Glen will be very angry if I'm not in top preformance.." She quickly twisted her long brown hair into a braid, then curled up on her bed. Before long she was fast aslep.

"Daddy? Daddy what's wrong? Daddy are you ill?"
Walking towards Daddy. Daddy is crying. Why? Why is Daddy crying? Daddys aren't supposed to cry. Talking Daddy's hand, it's cold. Cold and wet from his tears. Looking up into Daddy's eyes, Daddys eyes are sad. Speaking quietly…
"Daddy, why are you crying?"
Daddy looks up, his eyes are very sad. Daddy's pretty, happy eyes are sad. Daddy talks, his voice, Daddy's strong voice is shakey..
"Kyerra….Ky Mommy is…..Mommy is gone."
"Gone Daddy? When will she be back?"
"Mommy's not coming back, Princess."
"Why Daddy? Where did she go? Where did Mommy go?"
"Princess…….remember when…….when Mommy got sick?"
Nodding, "Yes Daddy, I remember."
"And she went to the hospital?"
"To get better!"
Daddy nods,
"Yes Princess, to get better,"
Daddy takes a deep breath.
"Well Sweetheart…… mommy didn't…..mommy didn't get better… mommy….."
"Don't cry Daddy."
Daddy rubs his eyes, "Ky……
mommy….. mommy died at the hospital."
Looking at Daddy,
"NO! No Daddy! Mommy's getting
better! Mommy will come back. Please
don't cry Daddy, Please!" Starting
to cry, slipping from Daddy's lap,
feeling angry now. Daddy is wrong! Mommy
is coming back! Mommy will be home
soon!. Running…running outside,
running to hiding place, crying.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*  ,
 ,  ,  ,
Kyerra sat up, her pillow soaked with
tears. She looked around the dimly lit
room and sighed heavily. Quickly, she
climbed out of bed and went to her small
washroom to wash her tear-stained face.
She checked her watch, unbraided her
hair and slipped from her quarters into
the dark hallway. The dimmly lit
corradors wound around like a coiled
snake, but Kyerra knew her way around
them well. She had been exploring them
since she was seven years old. She
followed the intricate twists and turns
of the hallways. Unseen, she slipped
from the shadows and entered the empty
elevator. She pushed the button for
Level 4. As she waited for the doors to
slide open again, she leaned slightly
against the wall and twisted a strand
of her hair. The elevator doors slid
open and Kyerra emerged caustiously.
She looked down the dark hallway to make
sure no one could see her before
slipping to the shadows. She made her
way to the simulation lab to wait for
Glen. ~~Hmmm….. I'm early.~~ She
thought. ~~Guess I'll just sit here
and wait. God, I hate
sims!~~ She found a chair and
curled up in a dark corner where she
could see the whole room.  ,
 ,  ,  ,
She sat there twisting her hair when a
tall, older looking man walked in. He
looked about Fifty or so. His light
brown hair was greying and his light
brown eyes looked tired.  ,
 ,  ,  ,
"Good evening Glen." Kyerra greeted
from her corner.  , , , ,
"Are you ready to start?" Glen asked,
almost demanding action. "And I want it
done correctly this time."  , , , ,
Ky stood and walked to Glen. Outwardly
she looked comfident and willing to do
as told, inwardly she was shaking,
dreading the simulation she was about
to begin. She nodded at Glen then
turned on a
bright overhead lamp.
Glen motioned toward the door and two
sweepers dragged in a young man.
 ,  ,  ,  ,
"Please have a seat, Steven." Ky said
forcefully as she indicated a chair
under
the light.
 , , , ,
Kyerra sat alone in the dark room. She
hadn't completed the sim as Glen had
wanted. She had obtainde the information
he was seeking but not using the method
he had desired. Her punishment, this
dark room. She sighed and looked around
her. She didn't mind being in the room
that much. She was familiar with the
darkness. The quiet and the dark were
her two best friends. She just didn't
understand why Glen had been so angry
with her. ~~What does it matter how I
got the info? I got it didn't I?~~
She stood up and paced the room a few
times, then sat back down. "UGH! I don't
understand!" She
stood up again and went to the door.
"GLEN!" She shouted, "Let me out NOW!!"
Kyerra was
surprised at her own boldness.
~~Great, Now I'm going to get
it!~~ She sighed and sat back down.
 ,  ,  ,  ,
Light streamed into the room as Glen
opened the door and entered. "What the
hell do you think you're doing, yelling
at me like that?" He demanded yanking Ky
up by her arm.
 ,  ,  ,  ,
Kyerra trembled in his grib. She
started at him with her big dark eyes.
She knew what was coming next and braced
herself.  ,  ,  ,  ,

"Answer me!" Glen shouted as he slapped
her face, hard.
 ,  ,  ,  ,
"I…………. I……… I'm sorry……." Ky stammered,
"I……."
 , , , ,
Glen squeezed her arm tighter and
slapped her face again, "Why?" He
glared.  , , , ,
A few tears slipped down Ky's cheeks,
"I….I was angry and……. And scared." She
cried as Glen continued pounding
her.
 , , , ,
"That's no reason!" Glen dropped her to
the floor, where she huddled up into a
ball. "Never again Kyerra!" He said as
he kicked her in the side and walked out
of the room.  , , , ,
Kyerra laid still on the cold, hard
floor, her body engulfed in pain. She
sobbed into her hands, not daring to get
up. With each sob, her body was riddled
with tremendous pain. She cried until
the pain and exhaustion swallowed her
into sleep.  , , , ,
She awoke, the next morning, still on
the hard floor of the cold, dark room.
She stretched slightly and cried out in
pain. She sat up slowly and looked
around. The door was open, she
carefully stood up and slipped from the
room. She slid through the shadows to
Davyn's office. It was still early,
so the assistant wasn't in yet.
She crept into the inner office to look
for Davyn. He wasn't there either so she
curled up in her favorite chair to wait.
Every move she made sent pain shooting
through her side. She drew her knees up
to her chest and cried softly.
 , , , ,
About three hours later, Davyn came
in. He didn't notice Kyerra asleep in
the chair until she stirred and cried
out in pain.  , , , ,
"Ky?" Davyn said as he turned to look at
her, "What is the………" He was horrified
when he saw the girl's bruised face.
 , , , ,
She had a huge bruise the shape of a
handprint across her left eye and cheek.
Her lip was swollen and cut, her right
temple had a jagged cut across it, from
where Glen's ring scraped across it, and
she was clutching her side in tremendous
pain.  , , , ,
"What happened? Who did this too you?"
Davyn angrily demanded. "It was Glen
wasn't it???"  , , , ,
Kyerra cringed and looked at Davyn with
frightened eyes. She couldn't talk she
was so scared, she had never seen Davyn
so angry before. She nodded slightly and
hugged herself tighter.  , , , ,
Davyn picked up the phone. "Please get
me Mr. Glen Woods." He practically
shouted into the reciever. "I need to
talk to him NOW!" He hung up the phone
and glanced at Ky. She was curled into a
tight ball, her eyes were huge with
terror. She was crying softly. "It'll
be
alright Ky. I'll make it right."
 , , , ,
Ky shook her head. "No, You can't." She
whispered. "Nobody can."
 , , , ,
"I promise, this will
never happen again. No one will ever
hurt you like this again!" The anger in
Davyn's eyes had softened a bit.
 , , , ,
"You Can't promise that!" Kyerra yelled
as she ran from the room, "Nobody
can promise that! Ever!" She ran all the
way to the elevator, ignoring the pain
that was shooting through her body. Once
inside the elevator, she hit the button
for Level 6 then the stop button. She
collapsed on the floor crying in pain,
fear and anger.  , , , ,
Kyerra screamed as the elevator started
moving again. ~What?….It's…It's not
supposed to move!~~
She huddled in the corner waiting for
the door to open. She looked like a
frightened mouse. Slowly she stood up as
the elevator came to a stop. She
clutched her side and waited for the
doors to slide open.  , , , ,
As the doors slid open, a young man,
about Ky's age…. maybe older, Started to
step in. Ky stepped forward to exit the
elevator and collapsed. The young man
caught her and held her close, studying
her face. "You shouldn't be here. " He
whispered as he carried her towards
the
infirmary.
