Here's another story: Let's say you just made a page on Geocities. Lucky you! You have 11 MB (a LOT of internet space) absolutely FREE! Plus you have a webpage that you feel really expresses yourself, and when you signed up for the page, Geocities said that there was NO CATCH! But there IS a catch. Geocities puts a "GeoGuide" at the top of your page. This "GeoGuide" has all kinds of banners on it. One of the banners advertises CD Now. Okay. CD Now is cool. But twnety seconds later, the banner changes, this time advertising Hanson! You HATE Hanson. So why is it being advertised on your page? Because Geocities says so. But that's not all. Geocities requires you to put a link back to their main page on your page. Plus, they have this stupid "watermark" in the lower right hand corner of your page that says "Geocities". You can't get rid of that watermark. And it's ALWAYS there! They're branding your art work! Despite all this, though, your page becomes really popular, and with all of your demanding visitors, you outgrow your 11 MB limit. Then Geocities starts charging you $25 a month! This is why we hate Geocities. Geocities is evil.
