The Rivalry is Back The Noga's from Farrington, the Maafala's from McKinley. Sim Tiatia all-state running back for the GOVS in the mid 80's, along with Erick Tanuvasa an all-star Linebacker from McKinley during the same era. Coach Skippa Diaz (Farrington) Coach Neal Takamori (McK now AD) are all the names in the 70's and 80's that contruct this magnificent rivalries between the two Honolulu District Schools. "Farrington brings a strong tradition and hard work" says coach David Tanuvasa. This game is for school spirit and definately personal pride. For the past five years the GOVS have been retaining bragging rights. The last time the Tigers defeated the Governors was in 1996 with All-State LB #44 Solomon Lealao (McK) and Defensive Linemen now in the NFL Mario Fatafehi with the Govs. Defense will play major roles in Saturday nights game. The Governors Defense scored twice against Pac 5 in the Father Bray Classic at Aloha Stadium. "They look tough on defense and well rounded. Their Linebackers can RUN" says, Offensive Coordinator Al Kaneshiro. The Tigers Defense also scored once with a Chris Williams 53 yard interception TD. Tigers beat Govs The Tigers finally got that monkey off its back when it finally beat the Farrington Govs. Defense played excellent and the offense was inconsistant in sustaining drives. For more info click here Also check out the hawaiisports networks ranking of teams. |
