KAHUKU 28, MCKINLEY 7: The Red Raiders broke open a close game with two touchdowns in the last 11 seconds of the first half.

After a Tigers' penalty for a late hit kept the drive alive, Inoke Funaki hit Ferron Fonoimoana with a 7-yard touchdown pass. Then, on the ensuing kickoff, Tony Ngalu recovered a fumbled lateral by the Tigers in the end zone.

McKinley played almost the entire game without top running back Va'a Fonoti, who broke an ankle early in the first quarter.

"The mistakes and the injury hurt us," Tigers coach David Tanuvasa said. "But even with Va'a down we were still in the game, so the penalty and the lateral really did us in.and so did Kahuku's depth and talent"

Aaron Francisco, one of the state's top defensive backs, caught a 41-yard pass on the Red Raiders' first play from scrimmage, setting up Kahuku's first score.

Starting defensive linemen Chris Kemoe'atu and Jonathan Mapu also played several offensive series for the Red Raiders. But were silent most of the night.

"This time of the season, you want your best people on the field as much as possible," Kahuku coach Siuaki Livai said. "If you lose, you go home."

The Tiger Football program would like to thank FANS, FAMILY and FRIENDS for their great support in the year 2000. You all are deeply appreciated!  Mahalo... TFE
