Outside In Sleep
I lie asleep,
Awake in unwanted dreams
Horses and graveyards
Move in circles
Around my head.
Resting on my bed
I wish for angels and money
Things we all want but won’t get
Sitting awake,
Watching my body
Motionless in nightmares I
Cannot awake from.
My body is heavy
And I can’t move even a leg
My eyes tired and heavied
With burden I can’t speak about
Hate streams from my body
Like the tail of a kite –
Wanting to detach
Yet unable to let go
The poet’s weary hand,
Glued to the pen
That is her life
Trying to word my feelings
Dreams not allowed to express
Emotions run wild in the dark
All the while
The dream stil; haunts me
The nightmare up in smoke
