The day was a wet and cold one, and Hole was to play at 10:00 pm. Silverchair backed their set by almost an hour which made Hole's performance move to 11:00 pm.
The band came out playing Violet at aprox. 11:10 pm and Courtney Love looked absolutely wonderful wearing a pink dress with angel wings and jewels in her hair. Melissa was standing in front of a Canadian Flag during the whole set which was really sweet considering it was Canada Day and she's from Montreal. Everything was perfect!
Courtney talked to us calling us the most beautiful audience and said we were the most punk since we stayed to watch them play even throughout the rain. They continued on to play Awful, Pretty On The Inside, Heaven Tonight, Miss World and Reason's To Be Beautiful. After the songs, someone through a bottle onstage and Courtney warned him saying "if we get one more of these fucking bottles we're gonna leave. I've seen who you are, and I know you're a male wearing a Metallica T-Shirt. If I see you I'll get you up here and beat the fuck out of you myself!"
They played Malibu and Dying while Courtney Love got on a security guard's shoulders and went down into the crowd. They shot out little pieces of tin foil which looked like glitter, and invited people onstage. Eric left the stage for being "intoxicated", but the girls went on without him and played Use Once & Destroy. Eric came back and they played Doll Parts.
Being Canada Day and all, Courtney sang Summer of '69 by canadian singer/songwriter Bryan Adams but changed the lyrics to Summer of '99. They finished their set with Boys On The Radio, Northern Star and Celebrity Skin. Their show was absolutely spectacular and Courtney Love was a real sweetie. She danced with a male fan that came onstage, and sang with a girl and later asked her if she wanted to trade sweaters with her. (She was gonna bring her backstage after the show) * Some people have all the luck * Hole was without any doubt the best performance of the day and they blew me away!
