Chapter 6: The Walk

Erica reached into her closet and pulled out a jacket. His jacket. He saw it and grinned.

"You kept it." he said.

"Of course, I told you forever." she said.

He grinned. He grabbed her hand and nearly dragged her out of the house.

"Slow down, Taylor." she laughed.

"I can't help it, I can't believe you said yes! I feel like I can...fly. Or I can do almost anything. I just want to tell the world or the universe..." he trailed off when he saw her smiling at him, "What is it?" he asked.

"You are so happy it is so cute." she said touching his cheek.

He blushed. They walked for a long time just holding hands. Then he let go of her hand...and put his arm around her waist.

Oh my God!!! she thought we really are going out. He really does like me!!! He finally does!!! Holy crap!! I can't believe it an hour ago we were friends now we're...a couple.

They sat on a bench in the park and talked about everything and anything they could think of. Especially how their mothers would be so happy that they were together. Erica wasn't so sure about her father...or her older brother who was away at military school. She told Taylor she would leave them in the dark for awhile. (Authors Note: Any girl who has brought a boy home with a protective father and an older brother knows exactly why.) Despite the fact that her father knows him...she was still his "Little Girl".

"What would you do if I kissed you?" Taylor asked out of the blue.

"Huh?" she looked at her feet.

"If I kissed you. What would you do?" he repeated.

"Don't" she said.

Taylor was hurt, "Why?"

"I've never kissed anyone before. I'm not ready." she blushed slightly at what she admitted.

"You're right." he put his finger under her chin and tilted her head to him,"I'll wait until you're ready. You tell me okay?" he asked.

She smiled and nodded her head.

It started to drizzle so they realized that they should head back home. She stepped in a big puddle and got her shoe all wet. It started to rain harder and they ran under a tree (And covered themselves with a big piece of sheet metal...no just kidding!!!) They were both laughing about how soaked they were. Taylor thought she looked beautiful with her hair all wet and hanging in her face with tiny water droplets running in her eyes.

"Look at me, I'm a mess." she giggled and started to push her hair out of her eyes.

"No," Tay said gently grabbing her hand and pulling it away," leave it you look great." Then he gently moved a strand of hair out of her eyes.

He is so sweet she thought. Her eyes caught his gaze and she stood staring into his eyes. Let him kiss you...don't let him kiss you... she fought with her thoughts let him...don't...let him...don't...shut-up ...let him...let him...let him. she decided.

"Okay" she said

"Okay what?" he asked.

"I'm ready"

His eyes got wide and then soft, "Are you sure?"

No...yes...no...yes...no...would you please shut-up!!!...sorry...yes...yes...yes

She nodded

He brought his hands up to her face and around to her neck. She closed her eyes. She unsurley lifted her arms up to his shoulders. He moved one arm around her waist and with his other hand gently glided her lips to his. His lips gently touched hers. She kissed back. He rested his other arm on her hip. He kissed her again this time opening his mouth, she opened hers too. He slid his tounge gingerly into her mouth, then he felt her tounge in his mouth. He felt a little tingle run through his spine and back to his heart. Then...it was over.

The rain had stopped but she held him close and rested her head on his shoulder. He showed no sign of letting her go either.

Woah he thought I just kissed my best friend...wait you moron she is your girlfriend now. Erica is my girlfriend. That is so cool. And I just kissed her and it was great he smiled. Not really because he kissed her but more because Erica was his girlfriend.

Then they noticed a couple of people walking by after the rain and staring at them. They even heard a few people mutter something about "kids these days". They decicided that they better be on their way. They left and walked home in a comfortable silence. When they got back to her house she gently kissed him on the lips and hugged him and went inside.

When she closed the door he shoved his hands in his pockets and strolled across the street, kicking the occasional rock in the process. He got inside, went to his room, and flopped down onto his bed. He closed his eyes and relived the moment when he kissed her. He was smiling to himself when Ike walked in looking for his notebook.

"She said yes Ike. And I kissed her."

"Really?"

"Yeah, guess you and Zac were wrong." Tay smiled at him.

Isaac looked at his younger brother in disbelief, "Guess so." he said.

Isaac grabbed his notebook and turned to leave, but Taylor sat up, "Ike wait!!" he said.

"Yeah?" he said slowly turning around.

"Thanks for caring, and tell Zac I'm sorry for getting mad. And I'm sorry for yelling at you. Do you forgive me?"

"Yeah Tay, I forgive you." Ike smiled. Maybe his little brother would be okay after all.
