How's This For Freaky?

On September 23, 1998, my friend Daniel and I were having a discussion. He claimed that on May 5, 2000, the predicted alignment of six of the nine planets would throw mobile phone and computer users into chaos. I did not believe him.

Daniel was adamant about this and we signed a pact that I would call him on his mobile on May 5, 2000 to prove him wrong. Sheona witnessed it and I kept it on my wall for the next two or so years (having moved to Melbourne from Hedland.)

Anyway, May 5, 2000 rocks around with the typical number of doomsday cults predicting the end of the world blah blah blah which did not eventuate.

I get to work and our IT department is running overtime trying to fix up damage done by the infamous "Love Bug" virus which was unleashed on the unsuspecting world that day. "Woah," I thought. "Maybe Daniel was half right. But the phones are okay and I'll ring him now to prove it." But no!! Some idiot in a backhoe had severed Optus cables and the entire Optus network was down for hours (Daniel is with Optus).

Bizarre coincidence or is Daniel the next Nostradamus??
