Part XII

Keesha sat contently in her chair as she listened to Taylor and her father as they talked and played chess. Well not really talk, more like trash-talked each other and argued.

She smiled happily at them and leaned back in her chair and noticed how bright the day as from her view of the window.

"Keesh, come and help out your dear old dad beat your too smart of a boyfriend." Hunter said smiling over at her.

Slowly Keesha looked up from her schoolbook. "Nu uh, Father." She said smiling. "I'm not getting dragged into your game. You lose on your own and you win on your own." She laughed.

"Brat." He muttered, chuckling.

Taylor laughed at the comment but stopped when Keesha looked at him. She smiled and went back to her book, and Taylor smiled at Hunter.

He had moved into Keesha's house the same day as Asia had left it to her after she had left, leaving Mark to reconcile with his sister on his own.

"I'm going to the park to play some b-ball with the guys." Mark called into the library. He smiled over at Keesha, then waved to Taylor and Hunter.

"Okay!" Hunter called over his shoulder, "We're going out to eat so be back before five!" "Will do!" Marl shouted back, already walking and dribbling the basketball towards the front door.

Waving his hand, Hunter turned back to his game with Taylor. Which he was sorely losing.

"I'm glad he's playing again." Keesha stated as she laid her book down and got up to stretch.

"It wasn't right for Asia to make him stop so that she could keep her lie up." Hunter replied a bit angrily. Still unforgiving his ex-wife of her actions.

Keesha smiled and went over and kissed her father on the forehead. "Hey, at least it's all over, and everything is basically back to the way they should have been." She answered.

Hunter looked up at her and smiled. "True."

Keesha grinned. "I never did thank you for paying for the surgeries, Dad."

His jaw dropped slightly, "How'd you know about that?" He asked looking up at her in question.

She was still grinning, "I looked on the payments. It said unknown, and I just knew." She answered while she was studying the board.

She moved his queen over one space and smiled. "Checkmate." She said before she walked out of the room whistling.

"Hey!" Taylor called out, as he and Hunter stared down at the board.

Sure enough, Keesha had won. In more than one way…
