Part III

"Keesha? Keesha, did you hear me?" The man that stated he was her father asked her gently.

Keesha slowly raised her eyes to his. "I did." She said softly, her eyes reverted to Taylor the lowered again. "I just don't want to believe it, sir."

He recoiled as if he been slapped with hard cold hand. "Keesha," He started raggedly. "I know that we haven't seen each other in over three years but you have to remember me. I know I left at a bad time; but I just couldn't stay and watch what was happening to you. It hurt too much."

Taylor and Keesha stared at him in shock, confusion, and anger.

"You lie!" Keesha shouted at him angrily. "We haven't seen each other since you tried to kill me!" Her voice shrieked with harshness. "You lie!"

His face fell then turned to stone, "Kill you?!" He asked outraged at the thought and the accusation proclaimed by his very own flesh and blood. "I never tried to kill you. I never laid a harmful hand upon your head!"

Taylor stepped in front of Keesha and placed his hand squarely upon Hunter's chest when he made a move to come near her. "Excuse me, sir. But I don't think you should get too close." He warned.

"She is my daughter!" He shouted ludicrously.

"And she is my girlfriend!" Taylor shouted back at him. "And I promised that I wouldn't let anything or anyone harm her." He stressed his words carefully.

Keesha had her arms wrapped around Taylor's left arm. Scared of the anger that burned in both their eyes. And scared of what might be burning in hers.

"I do not know you. Nor do I know what is going on. But I do know, Father." She said bit out coldly. "I do know that I got scars and became deaf because of you; on a precious high from your precious drugs!"

Her father staggered back, surprised by her tone by her look. By the actual feeling that she thought that of him. That he could have done that to her.

Before he could tell her otherwise or defend himself properly, Keesha had already run off. Leaving Taylor glaring at him angrily.

"Why are you hurting her again?" Taylor asked as he tried to keep his anger in check. "What did she do this time?" He asked. "Huh? What did she do to even remotely deserve this from you? You of all people!" His hand pushed against the man's chest, "Why can't you just leave her alone?"

He was trying but he was losing the battle. Taylor's anger got the best of him and he hauled off and slammed his fist against the man's chin. Knocking him back into the wall.

"Why you..." Hunter started as he started after Taylor.

But Taylor stood his ground. Taunting the man to hit him. Just so that he could hit him again.

Hunter just stared at him. "You love her, don't you?" He asked in frustration, knowing that he could not hit a minor. Staggering, he went to the freezer to get some ice for his chin.

Taylor; shocked by his question numbly nodded his head. "I do, sir."

He nodded his head also. "That's good. She needs a strong man in her life." He said quietly as he rubbed his smarting chin.

Taylor laughed lightly. "Sir, I better go check on her." He said as he started for the door.

"Take care of her." Hunter warned him carefully.

"Yes, sir." Taylor promised before leaving.

Man, he sure is different than how Asia had made him out to be. He thought as he cautiously crept up the stairs towards Keesha's bedroom.
