Part X

Shann sat on the couch staring at the TV. Isaac slowly walked in and sat down beside her. "Are they still at it?" Shann asked in a disgusted tone.

He nodded, "Yep." He shook his head, "Sometimes that's just a lil’ too much."

"I know, but we'll just have to bare it." Shann replied as she turned her attention on the screen of the TV. "Damn Discovery Channel. All they ever show is animals mating."

Isaac shook his head as he too looked at the TV.

Shana looked over at Taylor who was laying in the leaves and grass beside her. She giggled silently. "Taylor?" She said with a huge smile.

"What?" He looked at her with a grin.

"First of all, get your hand off my leg. And I also gotta a joke for you." She laughed slightly.

Taylor slowly took his hand off her leg, "What is it?"

Shana's smile was huge, "Two blondes were going to Disney World and when they were on the road approaching it, they saw a sign that said ‘Disney World Left.’ So they turned around and went home." Shana stated laughing.

Taylor laughed as well, "You brunets and those blonde jokes." He shook his head, "Wait 'til Shann hears that one." He turned on his side and faced Shana propping his head on his raised hand.

Shana grinned down at him and took a piece of his hair into her hands. " 'Scuse me, Mister." She said, trying not to laugh. "But you be a blondie too." She commented.

Taylor shook his hair out of her hand. "Yeah, but I'm smart." He reminded her.

She rolled her eyes at that comment. "Oh yeah, always forget that small detail." She replied. "And I do mean small. S-M-ALL." She clarified.

Taylor laughed, "And you better not forget it either."

She laughed, "Blondes," She shook her head.

"You know you like it." He coaxed slyly.

"Yeah, but I don't have to admit it." Shana smiled at him.

He laughed lightly and leaned towards her ear. "And I'm not small either," He whispered.

"Yeah, right." Shana said laughing.

- InSide -

Zac wandered into the room, with Mackie in his arms. They had coloring books and crayons and paper in their free hands.

"Ooh, ooh, crayons!" Shann said excitedly as she hopped off the couch. "Can I color too?" She pleaded, giving off a sweet face.

Isaac, Zac, and Mackie laughed.

"She's easily amused, huh?" Mackie asked grinning.

Shann laughed. "Zac, stop teaching him those sayings!" She shouted loudly.

Zac was laughing still when he shrugged his shoulders.

Then Shann turned back to Mackie. "And yes, I am easily amused with simple things. I am a simple person." She admitted.

Zac smiled, "You wanna know why she's simple?"

Mackie nodded readily.

" ‘Cause she doesn't have a brain. Scary, huh?" Zac asked laughing.

"Then how does she think?" He asked quietly to Zac.

Zac shook his head then got serious, "We don't know."

"COLORS!" Shana screamed as she ran in the house and ran then jumped and slammed her butt down right beside Shann. She looked up for a second and then squished her face up. "I know that hurts every time I do it, but I can't seem to stop." She said shaking her head, as Taylor walked in the room.

"Moron." Shann shook her head and then turned her attention back to what she was coloring, "This pencil won't mark, damnit."

Shana looked at it, "Shann, that's because it's not sharpened."

Shann looked over at her and stuck her tongue out. "It is too!" She screeched. "I know that trick!"

Shana laughed and shrugged, "Take the top off, half-wit."

She thought a moment. "I don't like you." She muttered as she removed the tiny cap.

She started giggling to herself. "And the reason why I can't think is not because I don't have a brain." She started seriously.

"It's just because I refuse to use it. I did once and I got bored quickly. So I decided never to use it again." She explained.

"YEAH, SHANN’S LIFE STORY! SHE USED HER BRAIN!" Shana rolled her eyes.

"Shut up, Shana." Shann said slapping her in the back of the head.

"Owww." Shana said as she rubbed it.

Isaac smiled at them and an idea struck so he had to nice to it. "Shann? Can I see your paper and you pencil for a sec?" He asked.

Shann stared at him strangely. "Yeah."

Quickly, Isaac took it and went over and sat down on the couch, and started writing. After a few seconds he got back up and gave it to Shann, and walked out the back door.

Slowly, Shann looked down and read it out loud, but yet in a mumble. "Meet me outside, I have something important to say." She looked up, then over at Shana. "Shana?" She asked in a quivering voice.

"Oh, Shann go get you your man." Shana laughed.

"Thanks for the advice, dork." Shann said as she got up and walked out of the house.

Zac stood there laughing as Mackie sat down beside Shana and watched her color.

- Back OutSide -

Shann walked slowly to the back door. She could see Isaac sitting on a tree stump, his head resting on his hands that were resting on his knees.

She sighed softly to herself as she stepped out and closed the door quietly behind her. Walking on unstable legs, she carefully made her way over to him.

"Hey." She said softly, making him jump from the sudden interruption.

He smiled at her. "You need to make noise when you walk." He told her.

Shann smiled, "I'm no elephant." She replied stubbornly. Crossing her arms in front of her.

If she kept this light and funny no blood would be shed and no new wounds would be made, nor would scars be etched into them.

Isaac watched her movement, "I know you don't wanna be here."

"Then why am I here?" She questioned him.

"I just have a few questions to ask you." He said looking in her eyes.

"Okay." Shann stated.

"Do you know how hard you are to stop thinking about?" He asked her.

Shann stood there staring at him. Not knowing quite exactly what to say to that.

"Do you?" He asked again.

She shook her head slightly. Was he really expecting a real answer from her?

Isaac sighed softly, "Well, remember when you told me that you need time? Well, I know if I ask you, then your gonna say that not you haven't had enough time. So I'm not gonna. I’m going to tell you, I love you."

She cleared her throat at that.

"I love you, Shann." He looked at her.

And slowly Isaac stood up and looked in her eyes. "I love you." He said again as his lips eased onto hers.

Shann stood motionless under his kiss. Not daring to move, and stopping herself from reacting in any way. She stared at him, when he pulled back. "You can't love me." She stated softly.

Isaac stared at her. "I just laid everything on the line in front of you, and that's all you can say?" He asked gently. Anger building up within.

She nodded slowly. "Why can't you just hate me?" She questioned him, tears starting burning behind her eyes, causing an almost unbearable pain. But she was too proud to show him how much she wanted to cry.

He went to turn away when she grabbed onto his arm and forced him to look at her. "Why can't you just be angry at me and yell?" She questioned hurtfully. "Do you know how much easier that would be for me?!"

"I am trying to make this easy for you!" He shouted, grabbing onto her arms tightly.

"No," She whispered. "You're not."

"It'll never be easy." She told him before walking away. " ‘Cause I hate love." She murmured softly.
