Part XI

Zac looked out from behind the closet and smiled as Shann walked in.

"Whatcha doing?" She asked him as she glanced at the clothes and junk on the bed as she walked by them.

"Chore day. I got the room, while Ike got the bathroom and Taylor's gotta clean the kitchen. Jessie has to clean their room while Avery cleans the dinning room and Mackie just helps anybody he can."

Shann nodded her head smiling, "Uh huh, I see... that you’re a strange family." She said as she ran out the door.

She walked by the bathroom and found Isaac scrubbing the toilet. And she had to laugh as she past by, she would have stopped and talked to him but, she didn't feel like talking to him.

So she walked further down the hall, turned the corner, and found Shana mopping while Taylor was sitting at the table reading the comics of the newspaper.

"Whoa, whoa, wait a minute." She said stepping into the room.

Firmly she placed her hands on her hips and glared at Taylor. "And why is my sister doing your chore?" She questioned sharply.

He shifted uncomfortably in his seat. His comics long forgotten, "I ... uh- umm..."

Shana stopped mopping and looked up. "You mean I don't have to do this too?" She asked.

Shann's glare at Taylor hardened. "Man, get up off your butt and do your chore!"

Taylor jumped up.

"TAYLOR!" Shana screamed.

"What?" He asked.

"Get off my floor!" Shana screamed again, as she placed her hand on her hip.

Taylor jumped back on the chair, "But... But Shann..."

"I don't care.” She stated. “Is Shann doing your chore! Huh?" She questioned him.

“No.…" Taylor looked down at the floor.

"Okay, now," Shana looked at Shann and smiled, "You, get off my floor." She said in a playful tone.

Shann cleared her throat, "Not until he helps at least, unless you REALLY wanna do his chores."

Shana nodded

Shann gave her a disbelieving look. 'Who in their right mind would want to do someone else's chore?' Once she looked closer at her sister, she shook her head sadly. She should've known that she wasn't in her right mind.

Silently she left the room, and claimed her place in front of the TV. She grinned as she saw Mackie walk by her. "Hey, Mack!" She called. "Wanna watch some cartoons with me?" She asked.

Mackie smiled brightly, but then frowned. "I'm supposed to help with the chores." He said sadly.

Shann grinned. "Well, I won't tell if you won't." She said quietly.

With that, he was sitting next to her and watched Tom & Jerry.

Shann and Mackie started laughing.

-

"Damn, I hate cleaning." Isaac said as he looked down in the toilet.

"Well, at least we know it's clean now." Shana said from the doorway.

Isaac looked up and nodded.

She laughed as she walked by.

"Shana?" He called out, hoping she would hear him.

After a few seconds passed he sighed and turned back to the toilet.

"What?" Shana asked in the doorway again.

"Can I ask you a few things?" He asked hopefully.

Shana nodded and then thought for a second, "It's about Shann isn't it?"

“Yeah.”

She nodded her head knowingly, "Only if I can ask you a few about Taylor." She bargained.

Isaac nodded as well, smiling. "Okay." He agreed. "I guess that's fair enough."

Shana smiled and walked inside. Isaac had leaned back and was sitting on the edge of the bathtub. Flipping the seat and lid down, she sat upon the toilet. "Me first." She stated.

"Fine with me." Was his reply.

"Has Taylor had many girlfriends?" She questioned.

Isaac shook his head. "Nope. You're the first."

"Has Shann had many boyfriends?" He asked her after a moment’s worth of silence.

Shana paused for a second, "Not really, I only know of maybe three."

Isaac nodded. "Okay."

Shana sighed, "Has Taylor ever told you that he has loved me when I'm not around?"

He gave her a small smile, "He told me the night you were first here that he thought he loved you. And with all the stuff you two do, I believe he does."

That made Shana smiled back. "I hope so."

"What about Shann?" He asked quietly, his head low and his eyes on the ground.

Shana swallowed at that. "She doesn't have faith in love. Only believes it can hurt."

"But how can she be so sure?" He questioned, a bit sharper than he had wanted to.

"She's not. That's what scares her." She answered as she stood up. "I don't think I should tell you anymore." She said quietly. "She may hurt me if she found out I told you this much already."

"Wait!" Isaac said getting up as well. "Just one more question." He begged.

"What?" She asked him curiously.

"Is she a natural blonde?" He asked.

Shana started laughing, "Yes, she is." She told him before walking out.

Isaac sighed as he turned back to his work.

And Shana walked slowly down the hall.

Taylor sneaked up behind her and placed his arms around her. She laughed lightly. "I missed you." He told her softly.

"You just saw me a few seconds ago."

"But I still missed you." He said in her ear.

Shana laughed, "I missed you too."

Shann walked by and started laughing, "Gross, you guys are scary."

Both Shana and Taylor started nodding and then laughed.

Shann shook her head, then her hand was suddenly being attacked by Avery's. "I gotta go to the bathroom." She whined as she crossed her legs impatiently. Intending that she REALLY had to go.

"Umm," Shann said completely dumbfounded. "Then go." She replied. "It is your house, you know where it's at."

"No." She said shaking her head furiously. "Ikey's in there, and the toilet monster might get me."

"Toilet monster?" Shann asked smiling. "What toilet monster?" Then she shook her head. "I know the toilet looked pretty dirty before Avie, but umm," She laughed, "Isaac did clean it."

Avery shook her head again, and started dragging her towards the bathroom. "Oh, God, please let the earth crack open and swallow me now." She mumbled.
