Shannon's Hanson Concert Review

First thing's first, I WAS supposed to fly out to CS, CO to go with Summer and her dad *shakes head* sadly enough, that plan got jilted and oooooh was I mad! Anyhow, to reconcile it, my brother bought tickets for the added Phoenix date so that my mom, him, and I could go.
So, on the morning of the concert "Oct. 29th" I woke up about three hours before I even had to get up. (I have to get up an hour early before everyone else so that I can shower and be ready in the twenty minutes it takes everyone else to.) I took my Dramamine, since I was going to be in a car for 3 hours to get to Phoenix
On the trip down, my brother graciously allowed me to play 3 of my Hanson CD's. Which, of course, was MON, LFA, & TTA. I should mention my brother very much dislikes Hanson and their music. But for my sake, he was kind of enough to accept it for that day.
When we reached Phoenix, and found where the State Fair was and where they were going to be playing at, we went and ate lunch. Don't ask for a specific time schedule, cause I just wasn't paying that close attention.
Reaching the fairgrounds, we paid to get in, even though we already had concert tickets, *L* we had to pay to get IN the fairgrounds! We walked around for a little first, and had to walk through a barn of animals, which I can honestly say I disliked the smell, a whole lot!
When we got up to the arena, we asked a couple leaving if we were allowed to go in. And they said we could, and that you could hear music being played in certain areas. I was already on my way!
We walked around some more inside, since they had painting's and art sections set up everywhere, so we browsed through there. But if you went down the hall, you could hear Hanson practicing. Which, and this is so great, one of the security guards mentioned was a demo tape. *Nodding* I would have believed her if the music hadn't stopped and I heard Isaac talking, and then Taylor laughing. I really would have believed her!
While in the bathroom, you could REALLY hear them practicing, and security guards were walking in every now and then and making sure no one was loitering around. And one asked why I was standing around and I explained why I had to wait for my mom. She laughed in relief and thought it was great I wasn't there for HAnson. Which I, of course, quickly corrected her. Her face fell in 1.3 seconds!
After an hour of walking around though, they started lining us up, and there was a group of girls before my brother and I. It was… scary. And I'm sure we made a fine sight standing in line with a bunch of squealing teenyboppers.
I, with my baggy blue jeans, huge sweater, sunglasses, wallet chain, and my looooong hair with the bottom 2 inches bright blonde…. And my brother with his baggy jeans, close cut hair, sunglasses, big tee, and cap. *LOL* not to mention my mom in regular mom clothing! We were the picture of Hanson fans *shakes head*
After like a thirty-minute delay, they allowed us in, and you could already see the smoke in the air from the lights. We were shown to our seats, not front row or anything, but along the right side, and in direct line of the stage. I could see them all perfectly clear, and no one was in my way.
Waiting for it to start, we listened to Train, and Jonny Lang, and I think Aerosmith and some other bands I just didn't recognize or paid attention to over the speakers. And some chic came up to me and handed me a card the told me to sing happy birthday to Zac at some specific time. Girl scared me to death, I thought she was giving me her phone number or something!
After a while, Hanson came out. There was no opening act, just an hour and a half of them. Which I had absolutely no problems with!
I can't tell you the exact order of the songs they sang, but I can pretty much remember most of the ones they did. Thinking of You, Speechless, MMMBop, Where's The Love, Look At You, This Time Around, If Only, Wish That I Was There, Sure About It, In The City, You Never Know, Runaway Run, Song To Sing, Can't Stop, Save Me, Dying To Be Alive, Hand In Hand, Love Song (and that's all I can remember)
Taylor's microphone wasn't working, not the one on the keyboard, but the one he carried around with him. So *L* from where I was, I could see him lean over to scream into the microphone, and hear nothing. Pretty funny. And I swear the guy is on crack.
He REALLY likes to get involved with the crowd and make us do things. Jump up and down, swing the arms from side to side… scream and say we're having fun… clap your hands… oh yeah, and the crowd being their own individuals and their own boss' followed right along with him! Must've been bad cotton candy or something.
Isaac had come out in a leather jacket, which he took off after the first song. Then about three songs later, he takes off his green button up shirt, to be left in a tee. So we got a free strip show, and didn't even have to pay extra!
They took about two breaks, during the entire set, and only for about 20 seconds each time. Then the show was coming to an end.
But of course, they had to come back out, cause no one was gonna leave. So anyway, the encore was "I Want You To Want Me". Zac singing it of course *big grins*, and Taylor on the drums. And when they came out, before turning on the lights, you could see Taylor's silhouette, and I swear it looked as if he wasn't wearing anything (he had taken off his over shirt as well), so my brother shrieks out, "ohmigod! That guy's naked!"
Ehh… not a good thing to shout in a room full of hormonal girls. It was a good thing though that most of them were already screaming again!
All in all, it was a great night. Leaving the arena I bought a poster and glossy (which the lady messed up on!) but it was still cool! And though there was a hyperventilating girl outside who "Taylor Hanson touched my hand!", I loved every minute of it, even if I couldn't hear very well for almost two hours afterwards.
I didn't try to meet them, rush the stage, or go stalking for their bus before or after the concert. I'm very much a practical person, and although it would be great, I know my chances of meeting the trio.    After we ate at McDonald's for dinner, my family and I managed to get home about midnight.

To add to it, my brother believes Zac's the one who will break up the band. Since almost the entire night (all but the encore) Zac looked pissed off/bored, my mom thinks he looks like a girl with his long hair.
My brother agrees with me that Taylor's on crack, but that Zac has mellowed out since the earlier years, and is HUGE. And though Isaac was off to the side, my brother says him and Taylor are toothpicks and wonders what happened to them cause of what Zac looks like.
And with much regret, my brother did admit that they could write and play their instruments well and he's glad that they weren't Backstreet Boys. *L* that's about as much as I'll ever get him to admit.
