Part 27

Isaac stood up quickly. "Come on." He ordered them. "We have to be there for them. You can explain it to me on the way." He said softly as he walked towards the door.

"I went in there to give her a piece of my mind and I thought she was sleeping, you know how people look so peaceful. And I shook her, and shook her but I noticed that... that... that... she... that... she.... wasn't.... responding....." Taylor stopped, "I DID IT! I PUSHED HER!"

Isaac stopped and looked back at his brother like he had lost his mind and maybe he had. "AWWW come on Tay..."

"WHAT? IF IT WEREN"T FOR ME!"

He shook his head, "If it weren't for you then she wouldn't have had half of the experiences she has had!"

Taylor looked at Isaac and then Zac and back at Isaac, "It's my fault," He growled.

Isaac shook his head, "If that's what you want..." He said low as Taylor walked a good five feet ahead of him and Zac.

Then Isaac saw Jade holding a doctor at his throat.

"You don't understand!" She was shouting. "When I ask to see her, you don't tell me I have to wait. You say 'right this way, ma'am,' and you show me where her fuckin’ room is!!" She screamed, her eyes wild.

"Oh, God." Zac got out, before him, Taylor, and Isaac were trying to peel her off the unsuspecting doctor.

"Jade, get off him!" Isaac shouted at her, gripping her arm tightly in his hands.

Jade just shook him off as if he were a weakling. "No!" She shouted back. "He won't let me see Eva!"

“Dude, if I were you I wouldn't mess with this girl now..." Taylor stated sharply yet calmly.

Isaac looked over at him. Awed by his personality change. Usually he was never so bold and so calm. "Just tell us where she is and she'll release, or other words, umm you'll be staying in this hospital longer than expected tonight." He said trying to compromise.

Jade laughed, "Much longer...."

"Okay, okay, okay..." The doctor gasped, "Please."

Slowly, Jade started to put him down and smiled, "Your sooo sweet." She glared at him again. "Okay, where is she?" She questioned. "Where is my sister?!"

The doctor gasped for breath and held his hand up for a second.

"Speak fast, dude." Taylor commented. "I'm telling you, she does not look stable." He told him.

The doctor stood up straight. Purple in the face. "Room two twenty three. Down the hall. On the left." He said quickly as he wheezed.

Isaac was shocked slightly but laughed a little bit anyway.

Zac was grinning from ear to ear. Things seemed to move a little more quickly when Jade was around.

The four went down the hallway. Jade running, Taylor trying to keep up, and Isaac and Zac were jogging just trying to keep Taylor and Jade in their site.

Jade came to a halt when she heard yelling Taylor behind her.

"KEEP HER STEADY!" They heard one person say.

"GET THE HEART GOING! COME ON!" One said right after the first.

Jade stared at Taylor in horror as they heard the sound of a long beep.

Taylor slammed his head on the door, then in seconds they heard the short beeps start up again. Taylor looked at Jade and Jade looked at Taylor. Then as Isaac and Zac saw the two they were hugging each other.

"These kids should know if they have an allergic reaction to this stuff before they start messing around with it," One doctor said to another as they walked out of the room.

"They shouldn't be messing around with it in the first place, now we've gotta keep a close eye on her... she might go out again." The second one spoke up.

The first doctor nodded.

Jade stood frozen at the door and Taylor just stood there with her.

Isaac and Zac came up behind them.

"What are you waiting for?" Isaac asked. "You practically just killed the doctor, and for what? To stare at her door!"

Jade winced at the word 'killed.' And Taylor noticed it. He took her hand and squeezed it.

Only she didn't squeeze back. She removed her hand from his and stalked into the room. Her head high.

She carefully walked in to the side of her sister’s bed. She looked down at her, "I never thought you would really do it."

Taylor looked up at her, "You mean to tell me she's done this before?"

Jade looked at him and was silent, then she looked back down at the bed. "Haven't we all?" She asked softly, "Haven't we all?"

Taylor looked at her in anger. He gripped her shoulders and shoved her against the wall. "NO!" He shouted in her face. "WE haven't ALL done that!" He screeched.

Jade could only stare at him. Her eyes looking into his. "You don't know us, Taylor." She said in an even voice. "The people you see," She started. "The people we LET you see!" She shouted. "We are those people, but only because we wanted a change from our old lives. We wanted a LIFE."

She was silent for a moment. "We didn't want to live life, and want to take it EVERY day that we woke up!"

Taylor kept his grip on her shoulders, before she dug her nails sharply into his hands. He howled out in the pain.

"You never touch me!" She shouted. Jade then walked over to Eva's bed, and laid down next to her sister. Careful of the machines.

She looked up at Taylor, Isaac, and Zac. They were silent. And so was she.

Jade looked over at Taylor, as Taylor slowly lifted the frail hand of Eva's and softly kissed it. He slowly put it down, and then leaned over and softly kissed her forehead then her lips.

She watched him, "After all she's done to you, what she's put you through... you still feel the need to protect her, to watch over her, to love her. Why?"

"You don't know me, Jade." Taylor commented softly, "I'm not the person that you see...."

Jade somewhat grinned as Taylor looked down at Eva and softly brushed her hair away and kissed her lips.

"Sorry Tay, I'd let you join us... I know it's every mans dream to have two girls at once...." She started. She tried to smile and laugh, but it didn't come out. "But you gotta sleep on the floor tonight."

Isaac and Zac gave weak smiles, while Taylor shook his head, and flushed slightly.

"I think we're all sleeping on the floor tonight." Isaac commented softly.

"What's this 'we' shit?" Jade questioned. "I ain't movin.’ "

The night nurse started making her rounds telling everyone that visiting hours were over.

The doctor Jade had assaulted stood outside their door and told the nurse to leave them alone.

"WHAT IS THIS SHIT?" Jade looked in horror, "BABY, I ASKED FOR FOOD NOT SLOP! WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO, KILL ME?"

Isaac looked down at the tray, "Uh, sorry."

Jade curled her lip, "Well, go get me some real food!"

He nodded and walked out.

"Has she come to yet?" Taylor asked Jade.

"Boy, how would I know? You been watching her longer than I have. How much sleep did you get last night?"

Taylor hung his head, "Fifteen minutes of dozing."

Jade shook her head, "You’re turning more like me everyday."

Zac cringed at the thought. He went over and started shaking Taylor. "If you become her I'll kill you!" He screeched.

Eva slowly moved and Taylor looked at her grinning ear to ear. Though her eyes were still closed.

“Eva?” Taylor asked softly.

“Hummmm” She voiced faintly.

“Eva, do you know who this is?” Taylor asked slowly.

She gave a small grunt.

“Eva it’s Taylor, do you understand...” Taylor asked quickly.

She lay there, Taylor leaned over and softly kissed her lips.

“I thought things were over between you two.” Isaac asked, as he stood just inside the doorway, and leaned against the wall with his arms crossed.

“I thought so too.” Taylor sighed as he looked down at her body, “But I love her.”

Isaac walked over and looked down at Eva’s body as Taylor had a hold of her hand.

“Look at her Ike, so peaceful, so beautiful, so graceful. What does she see in me? What about me could she love, I mean did you see the way that Jonny looked at her? Did you see the way she looked at him? What Ike, what? Please tell me.” Taylor looked at him with a slightly turned head.

Isaac shook his head, “Tay, he looked at her the same way you do, and she looked at him with a sparkle in her eye. But when she looks at you her eyes light up, and her laugh is full, not hollow. I have no clue about what she sees in you. Only that she sees it.”

Taylor looked at Eva then back at Isaac, “I miss her, Ike, I don’t want her to die, or stay in a comma for the rest of her life. I wanna hold her again. I wanna kiss her again. I want to hear her voice again...” Tears slowly rolled down his face.

“Shhh, it’s okay man, calm down, please...” Isaac said as he put his hand upon Taylor’s shoulder.

“Ike, I really don’t wanna go I mean what if she wakes up? I won’t be there for her...” Taylor fought when one look from Isaac made his get in the car and slam the door.

“Tay, she’ll be fine... And as for you, you need sleep.” Isaac said as he started up the car.

Taylor grunted angrily as Isaac pulled out of the space.
