"Angel." Lucy started gently. "Come on... you’re hurt get in the other ambulance."
Lucy started to push me, but I resisted, Jay walked over. "Ang, get in the ambulance."
With that I did as told, and Ike and I were rushed to the hospital.
"I dunno, Jay." Lucy said. "Walk I guess."
"But I'm not in the mood for walking!" Tay said.
"Tay, how did this happen anyway?" Zac asked
"Well Ike was drinking and he got mad took my keys and me and was driving… he was in the wrong side of the road... but we had no idea it was angel and Jamie in the oncoming car! I swear!!!"
Jay put her arms around his shoulders and whispered, "It’s okay, Tay...they'll be fine."
I lay in the ambulance… ‘Why does this always happen to me?’ I thought to myself and grabbed my stomach. I'm almost due and my mom still doesn't know; I hope the baby is okay. Then I began to cry. "Ike!" I called out loud.
"Do you have an Isaac Hanson registered here?" Tay asked a nurse.
"Yes, room one-o-two." She told them.
"Thanks."
As Tay, Jay, Lucy and Zac walked to Ike’s room they passed my room and I called, "JAY! LUCY! TAY! ZAC!"
With that they all came in to see me.
"Hey there, Ang. You look good." Lucy lied.
"No I don't." I said, just then the nurse came in with my baby girl.
“Here ya go miss, all bathed, she wants to see her mama." The nurse said.
Jay and Tay looked at me in surprise. "Guys this is Jamie Lucille."
They all came over to me and the baby... "When?" Was all Jay said.
"Right after the accident." I told her. "I have something to ask... I want the four of you to take care of her after I die... the doctor’s don't give much time..." I trailed off.
"Angel...you can take care of her you are gonna watch her grow up and meet guys and sing like you do."
Lucy said ‘no.’
“Lucy… I won't they doctors don't even give me one month." I started to cry.
Lucy, Jay, Zac, and Tay all surrounded me in a hug, I sniffled and Zac asked, "How’s Ike?"
That question made fresh tears spring to my eyes and I heard a knock at the door it was my cousin Libby. "Hey Libb." I said shyly.
"I'll come back later.” She said. “I see you have company."
Libby looked at me, "No, no. It’s okay really we were just leaving." Tay said, "We'll be back, Ang.”
Libby came in and sat down.
"I see you had your baby." Libby told me.
"Yeah." I replied.
"What did you name her?"
"Jamie Lucille." I said, and then Libby froze.
Tay and Zac looked at each other both with tear stained faces. "Zac… I can't believe he is… dead." Tay turned to Jay and she wrapped her loving arms around him. "Oh Tay, it’s okay."
Zac ran over to Tay and pushed Jay out of the way. "Jay, can you leave? This is a family moment." Zac said staring intently at Jay.
“Well if I leave, Lucy does too." Jay smarted off.
"Zac, Ike is our friend too, and we wanna be there for him." Lucy stated as she walked over to Zac and took his hand.
Ike’s heart monitor sounded and then a long blank line appeared.
"Libby, what’s wrong?" I asked concerned for my cousin.
“Nothing... I need to go." She replied.
"Okay."
"I'll be back later." She promised and hugged me then left.
I sat there confused looking at Ike’s baby and mine. “I'm sorry sweetie...I'm sorry you aren't gonna know me and your daddy... I wish it could be different...."
Then a loud "AANGEL" broke my thoughts.
"Yes?" I replied.
"It’s Ike..."
Then I saw the voice of my dearest friend’s, Jay and Tay. "What about him?" But there was no need to ask; I already knew the answer.
"He’s gone…. Ang…. he’s gone..." Jay started but was defeated by her tears. "The doctors did everything they could Ang...."
Then Zac and Tay appeared all red eyed and puffy faced and I knew that Ike was no longer with me. As looked down at Ike’s baby, and mine one question went through my mind, "Why me?"
