# 18

"Ike, what were you and Shannon laughing at?" Taylor asked Isaac who was lying motionless on his bed.

Isaac groaned. He had a small smile playing on his lips, but he couldn't move. Every time that he did his sides disagreed with him and gave him a sharp pain through out his body telling him not to move. "Nothing, Tay."

Taylor gave him a 'yeah right' look. "Why do I not believe you?" He questioned sitting next to Isaac.

A strangling noise came from Isaac because when Taylor sat down, his weight caused movement to the bed. Which meant he moved, and pain shot through him. "'Cause I'm not telling the truth?" He offered when Taylor removed himself from the bed.

"See, I knew you weren't telling the truth." Taylor pointed out. "Man, Ike. What's wrong with you?" Taylor asked concerned for his older brother.

Isaac managed to shake his head. "Nothing really." He stated simply. "My sides feel like they are going to burst open, and if I move even slightly I feel this really sharp pain dragging through my body."

Taylor looked at him with slightly wide eyes. "Are you going to be okay? Do you want me to call Shana and Shannon to cancel?" He asked getting more and more concerned for his older brother who was just lying as still as possible on his bed.

"No!" Isaac said a bit too quickly.

Taylor took a step back and gave Isaac a strange look.

"Look we said that we were taking them to dinner, so we are." Isaac said as he stood up quickly. Pain seared through him and he clenched his jaw and his fists to keep from screaming out. "Let's go. Get Zac." He said barely above a whisper.

"Zac's not coming." Taylor said as he grabbed his jacket.

"What? Why not?" Isaac asked a bit shocked.

"He's gonna stay home and relax a little. I think seeing you and Shannon laughing so much kind of scared him." Taylor said shrugging.

Isaac smiled slightly and gently slid into his coat. He headed for the door with Taylor behind him. "So, Tay. What do you think of Shana?" He asked slyly.

~ Shannon's and Shana's Point Of View ~

After somehow managing to change into a clean shirt and getting a jacket on Shannon just wanted to crawl in bed and never ever move again.

Laughing hurt way too much when done too long.

"C'mon." Shana insisted as she watched Shannon walk slowly to the door.

"Hey, you're just gonna have to deal with how fast I'm going right now. It cannot be helped." Shannon said angrily as she walked to the elevator. There was no way she could walk downstairs with the way her sides were right now.

"You shouldn't have laughed so much." Shana pointed out.

"Oh, really? And where were you Ms. Obvious when I was laughing?" Shannon asked as she walked out of the elevator after the doors opened.

Shana sighed and kind of stayed behind Shannon. They were waiting for their ride. And it was already waiting outside for them.

"I'm never laughing again in my life." Shannon grumbled as she slid into the passenger’s seat. She bit her lip from crying out in the agony she was in.

Isaac looked at her tiredly. He gave a short weak nod.

~ After Dinner ~

"This is nice." Taylor said softly as he and Shana were walking down a small path in the park.

"Hmm, it was, isn't it?" Shana said as she watched the last golden and red beams of the sun light the sky.

"Tell me something?" Taylor said even more softly than before.

"Like what?" Shana asked as they continued to walk down the path.

Taylor reached and grabbed her elbow gently but firmly. "Stop for a second. Please." He added. He stared into her eyes for a second.

Looking for any feelings she may have that he could compare to his own that he had for her. Deciding that there were some he took his chance and kissed her softly. He pulled back after a few moments and stared at her. Seeing if she would object.

Surprised at first, Shana didn't know what to do. Then before she knew it she was responding. And as quickly as he kissed her, he stopped. Staring at him, Shana wondered if the kiss was real. She had wanted to kiss him so badly, so she thought that she had just imagined it.

But then he kissed her again. And she responded quicker to this time.

~ Isaac's And Shannon's Point Of View ~

"No more laughing." Shannon said sternly as she sat slowly on a wooden picnic bench.

Isaac nodded carefully as he sat next to her. "No laughing." He repeated. "Do you think anything is happening between them." He asked referring to Shana and Taylor.

Shannon was silent for a moment. Then she nodded her head very very slowly. "Yeppers."

"Shann, I don't get this." Isaac said sighing.

"Get what?" She asked confused when she looked at him. "They're two teenagers that like each other. What's so hard to understand? It all spells out duh."

"Not that." Isaac said shaking his head roughly. He paid for moving so hard. He winced and took in a deep sharp breath.

"You okay?" Shannon asked as she slid a little closer to him.

He just nodded his head and kept his gaze focused on his hands. "Just the sides acting up again." He explained.

"Oh, okay." Shannon said sliding back to her original spot. "So what is it that you don't get?" She asked again.

Isaac looked up at her. Then he leaned closer to her. "This." He barely whispered before his lips were on hers.

Shannon pulled back and stared at him. "Why?" She asked softly looking down at the ground.

"Because I like you." Isaac replied.

He leaned forward again and Shannon pushed him away. "We can't. I'm leaving soon remember? I'm a runaway." She stated calmly, even though her heart was racing. "I lied." She whispered.

Isaac shrugged. "I don't care. I don't want to think about what I might have had before it was gone."

"But...." Shannon started before Isaac kissed her again.

~ Shana's and Shannon's Hotel Room ~

Shana was on cloud nine, and Shannon’s thoughts were clouded. She looked at Shana and growled lowly. "Doesn't she know how much she's gonna be hurting when we have to say good-bye?'

~ Six Whole Day's Later ~

Taylor and Shana became more than friends, while Shannon finally let Isaac and her become more than friends. She decided to try the saying 'It's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.' She was hoping that it was right. For everyone's sake.

~ Hanson's Points Of View ~

"Ike, honey. There's someone on the phone for you. They're asking if you know any girls named Shannon or Shana." She called up the stairs.

Isaac bounded down the stairs, with Zac and Taylor following close behind.

He grabbed the phone off the end table. "Uh, hello?" He asked a little nervously.

"Yes, this is Mr. Morrow. I was hoping that you could help me young man." A harsh voice boomed into the phone.

Isaac held the phone a little away from his ear. "With what can I help you with, Mr. Morrow?"

"I'm looking for my daughter Shannon. See, she ranaway a while ago, and her mother and I have been dreadfully worried about her." Mr. Morrow's voice still boomed loud and harsh.

"I'm sorry sir, but I don't know a Shannon." Isaac said convincingly.

But not convincingly enough. "She ran away because her mother and I refused to let her keep her boyfriend living in our house. She's not as innocent as she seems." Mr. Morrow lied straight through his teeth.

Isaac's jaw dropped to the floor. Along with Taylor's and Zac's, they had heard because Mr. Morrow's voice was so loud.

"I have no idea why you are warning me of this, Mr. Morrow. I told you that I don't know a Shannon." 'Not as I thought I did anyway.' He added mentally to himself.

"I just thought that I would warn you. She has a way to make herself seem innocent." Mr. Morrow said before he hung up.

Isaac slowly rested the phone in its cradle.

"You don't believe him do you Ike?" Taylor questioned.

"Yes, I do." Isaac said before he headed for his car.

Taylor and Zac came a long to make sure nothing bad really happened. Besides their brother needed him.
