# 20

Shannon and Shana were standing in the courtroom. They had decided to defend themselves. Hiring a lawyer would be a waste of money. They were guilty, they were going get sentenced, and they were going to be split apart. Again.

"Miss Morrow, why did you decide to run away?" Her father's lawyer asked as he rubbed his brow.

"Because I wanted to." Shannon said looking straight at him. "Shana and I were being kept apart. That's something unbearable when you have a connection like she and I have."

"And what exactly is your connection with Miss Reed?" He asked staring at her.

Shannon gritted her teeth. "We have passed the definition of soul mates, sir. We are great friends, greater than any sisters could possibly be. Our bond is very strong but we have to be held together." She said quietly. She struggled a little to explain.

She was told to step down and Shana had to go up. "Miss Reed, Miss Morrow had a small difficulty explaining your relationship with each other. Care to elaborate?" He questioned.

Shana smiled confidently. "It's like we are two halves. When one half is missing the other half is nothing. It's worthless. When Shannon and I are apart I'm nothing. I'm just me. But together we make the perfect person. Everything comes out right." She explained as she watched Shannon.

Shannon smiled at her gratefully. Everything did fall into place when they were together.

After a few days of being in court Shannon and Shana were denied of going back home.

That wasn't bad. They knew that they wouldn't be allowed back into their homes. Shana was being sent to a relative's house, while Shannon was being sent to a foster home.

They weren't even allowed to say good-bye to one another.

As Shannon was being lead out of the courthouse she saw the Hanson family standing outside.

They each gave her a sad glance, and she fumed. "Well, I told you that we were going to get caught." She said bitterly.

Isaac looked away for a second then looked back. "Where are you going?" He asked quietly.

Shannon got even angrier. "Well, Shana and I aren't lucky to have caring parent's like yours. Shana is being sent to a relatives and I get the pleasure of going to a foster home." She said harshly before she stalked off.

After a few minutes Shana came out. She smiled weakly at them. "If Shann blew up at you it's because she is deeply hurting. I'm her only family. And we can't even be together." She said softly.

Then quickly she felt Taylor place his lips upon hers. In one sweet kiss that made her head spin and her heart pound. "Thanks." She whispered before she too was lead away and out of their lives.

Isaac, Zac, and Taylor watched as the separate cars carrying Shannon and Shana sped away. "Being forced and kept apart. Being torn from each other's heart." Isaac said calmly.

"Trying to find another way, to make each other stay." Taylor added.

Zac looked up at them. "Thinking of their histories, memorizing their memories." He quietly replied.

They looked at each other and nodded. They gave each other a small hug and clapped each other on the back. The sad and scary thought of being torn away from each other made them wonder what it was like for Shannon and Shana.

~ Four Months Later in New York City ~

"Bria, we need to hurry." Shana shouted to Shannon in their dressing room.

Shannon smiled at her new name. It took a while before she actually started to respond to it. She was still so used to being called Izzy. "I'm coming Jordan." She said stressing her friend's name. (Guess where she got it from.)

Shana smiled proudly. "It's Danny for short." She said shrugging as she fixed her dark blond hair with black streaks.

"I don't care what you are calling yourselves you better get out there on that stage." Their manager Rob Fairchild shouted at them.

"Chill, we're almost ready." Shannon said flipping her now light golden blond hair with silver streaks over her shoulder.

He smacked Shannon hard and Shana instantly went to her rescue, but Rob only smacked her too. "Get away from her!" He shouted angrily at Shana.

But Shana never budged from Shannon's side. She had one hand placed on her smarting cheek on the right side if her face and her left arm protectively wrapped around Shannon.

Rob moved to strike Shana for not obeying him when Shannon stood up to him. "You may strike at me as you wish." She said looking him dead in his eyes. "But you will never lay your hand on her again." She said harshly.

Backing off a little bit when a knock landed on their door saying that they were on in less than five minutes. Shana walked out quickly and Shannon watched Rob as she began to walk out.

When she wasn't looking Rob hauled off and slapped her in the back of her head with a strong force. "Never tell me what to do!" He bellowed loudly. She stumbled forward and Shana caught her.

"C'mon." She said softly as she helped her over to the side of the stage. "We need to leave here." Shana said as she examined the back of Shannon's head.

Bruises lined her up and down neck and bumps were all over her head. "It's not worth this." She whispered.

Shannon turned around and stared at her. "What do you mean? Do you not want this anymore?" She asked.

Shana quickly shook her head. "I want us to do this, but not like this. Rob is seriously going to hurt you sometime. And I can't bear to wait until that happens."

"He won't. We're his meal ticket. Besides, I almost have enough money for us to start off somewhere else." She whispered as she looked around. Slightly paranoid that Rob might hear and get angry.

Shana smiled gratefully. "Good." She said as they were getting ready to be called on.

"And here they are ladies and gentlemen. 'Raven.'" Rob shouted into the microphone before Shannon and Shana rushed out onto the stage.

They smiled at the crowds and got a rush. But it was almost ruined when they saw some familiar faces in the crowd. It looked as if Hanson and their whole entire family were at that restaurant.

Shannon looked nervously at Shana and Shana was smiling happily. She had missed Taylor a lot since they had said good-bye at the courthouse.

Though Shannon wished to forget that day. It wasn't one of her happiest memories.

~ Hanson's Points Of View ~

"Hey, Tay." Zac said laughing.

"What?" Taylor asked not looking up form his meal.

"That short girl singin' is starin' at ya." Zac said as he exploded in a fit of laughter.

Isaac followed and when Taylor looked up to see what the singer looked like he wondered about her. 'I know that voice.' He thought to himself. "Where do I know that voice?" He questioned himself out loud as he began to stare at the singer.

"Thank you Raven. Ladies and gentleman that was Bria and Danny Raven." A guy said as he came back out onto the stage. "You might know them from the radio folks if you're not a regular here. They haven't made it big yet, but I'm sure that their tapes are going to get played a lot, and hopefully they'll get signed to a label."

Zac stared at the man talking. "For some reason I don't think he really cares about Raven."

Isaac nodded. "Yeah, signing seems to be his main priority with that band." He sighed softly. 'Poor them.' He thought miserably. "Being used for money and publicity by that man.' He shuddered at the thought. 'Eww.'

Taylor just shrugged his shoulders. It wasn't like he could really help them out or anything. 'Hmm, I guess I've just heard her on the radio.' He thought to himself.
