They climbed into Isaac's car and started to drive to the nearest ice cream parlor. They checked out the parking lot and found it surprisingly empty. Thrilled by the thought of being alone, they quickly parked and walked inside.
"It's nice in here." Shannon stated as she sat down in one of the booths.
Isaac slid in next to her. He nodded his head and grabbed a menu.
They all grabbed menus and started thinking about what they were going to get. Shana got two scoops of Neapolitan ice cream in a vanilla waffle cone. Zac took two scoops of chocolate ice cream in a chocolate waffle cone. Taylor took two scoops of strawberry in a vanilla waffle cone. Shannon took one scoop of cherry vanilla ice cream and a scoop of peanut butter pretzel crunch in a chocolate waffle cone; and Isaac took two scoops of vanilla ice cream in a vanilla waffle cone.
"I guess we all have a thing for waffle cones." Shana said smiling.
"Thanks Captain Obvious." Shannon replied as they started to eat their ice cream.
"Well this is great." Zac said smiling as he happily ate his ice cream.
Shannon smiled at him. "Well, it's ice cream. Of course it's great."
Shana laughed. "No. What's great is fresh home made brownies with vanilla ice cream, walnuts, chocolate sauce, with a cherry on top." She said as she envisioned the image in her mind. Then she looked at her ice cream. "Does anyone wanna split that with me?" She asked.
Taylor was the first to speak up." Yeah." He said smiling as the brownie popped into his mind.
Shana smiled back and they ordered it and fought who was going to get the cherry.
Shannon groaned lowly. "I'll settle this." She said smiling slyly. She quickly snatched the cherry and popped it in her mouth. "There now you can't fight over it anymore." She stated smiling as she licked her lips.
Isaac laughed. "Okay, now I know not to fight over anything in front of you that's edible."
"Good idea." She said smiling.
Shana and Taylor complained about not having the cherry and Shannon quickly got tired of that too and bought them a bowl of cherries to make them both happy.
"So what happened to your family?" Isaac asked as he drove them around the city.
Shannon cleared her throat nervously. "Well, Shana and I were out one day and our parents left. We couldn't find them, and then some social service people wanted to take Shana away from me. And I wouldn't let them. I told them that I could take care of her and they have me on some probation thing. And they check up on us every once in a while to make sure that I am taking care of her."
Shana was quiet as Shannon shifted in her seat and lied through her teeth. 'Well what do you expect her to say?' She asked herself. 'Yeah, well we ranaway because they didn't want Shana and I to be together. And we changed our appearance to stay together and do music. Now when everything comes out we're gonna get caught. I don't think so!'
"Wow." Zac said in awe.
"Man that's horrible." Taylor added.
Shana smiled weakly. "It's really okay you guys. We got to stay together and everything and we did our music. So everything has worked out fine."
Isaac looked at Shannon. "So you have a lot of responsibilities, huh?"
Shannon shrugged. "Not really. Shana helps out a lot. More than she needs to, and Casey our manager helps out too. So we are okay. Everything is working out just fine for us."
Smiling, Isaac replied. "It's cool how you stuck together."
Shana laughed. "Izzy had no choice. I wasn't about to let her ditch me too!"
That broke the ice that built up when Shannon revealed the lie of their past. They all laughed and relaxed.
Soon they were going back to their hotel. They said good night and Hanson invited them for a late-late dinner with their family again tomorrow.
And Shana and Shannon accepted.
"Where'd you come up with that weak story, Shann?" Shana asked as they were taking out their contacts.
Shannon smiled up at her from her bed. "I just made it up. I didn't think that they would ask so soon so I didn't have much time to prepare properly."
Shana laughed. "Well, good night. We have to prepare for tomorrow."
"Okay." Shannon said as she rolled over in her bed.
Shana fell asleep almost instantly while Shannon thought about what was going to happen when they did get caught and when Hanson finds out that she lied straight face and unblinking to them. She shuddered a little.
"This sucks." She commented before she rolled over again and fell asleep.
