January eighteenth came there were balloons everywhere. They had Amy’s name on them and some had the number twelve on them.

Amy was so happy she had never had a birthday or a birthday party before. Amy was finally going to meet her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was so excited. She got up that morning to Isaac shaking her.

“Sweetie, sweetie. Get up birthday, girl.”

“Morning Isaac.” She rubbed at her eyes and stretched.

“Good morning sleepy head. C’mon get dressed and come and get breakfast.”

She nodded, and looked around and saw that Avie and Jessie were up and gone. She put on a pretty jumper with a long sleeved turtleneck. She brushed out her hair and got ready to go.

Trying for what seemed like forever to get her hair into a pony, she decided to go downstairs and ask someone to help. She started out and ran into Zac.

“Zac, will you put my hair into a half pony?”

“Sure.” He pulled her hair up. Both walked downstairs.

When she got down it looked as if no one was there. The all of the sudden everyone jumped out.

“Happy birthday!” They all exclaimed excitedly.

Amy would have fallen over if Zac hadn’t held her up. Everyone took turns hugging her. Mrs. Hanson had fixer her favorite breakfast. The first breakfast she had had at the Hanson’s.

After breakfast they all disbanded to different parts of the house. Amy went to help her mother with the dishes.

“No, sweetie. It’s your birthday.”

“So.” She smiled.

“You look very nice today.”

“Thank you, Mom.”

Mrs. Hanson looked at the girl that had been the first time she had ever called her mom. She wiped her hands and hugged the little girl.

The party began and Grandma Hanson came in. “Where is the birthday girl?”

Amy came out of the shadows.

“Oh Diana, she is precious.” She held Amy’s face in her hands. “I’m your grandma.”

Amy hugged the old woman. She loved every second of her birthday. She got many presents but she had the best one in her heart, love.
