'Angel Charm'

He was floating on air. His dinner with Lilah was amazing. Isaac could feel his heart lightening.
"I think you may want to talk with Charm, Ike." Taylor commented softly, snapping on the light next to his elbow on the desk.
Jumping, Isaac whirled around. "Dang, Tay! What the hell were you thinking, sneaking up on me like that!"
Breathing hard and clutching at his chest where his heart was racing, Isaac flopped into one of the armchairs.
Staring at him with cloudy eyes, Taylor remained silent until his brother calmed down. "You may want to talk with her as soon as possible as well."
Rubbing at his forehead, Isaac looked up at him warily. "And what are we to talk about, Tay? How not to scare ten years off someone's life?"
The corner of his mouth quirked, but Taylor remained firm with his mission. "She seems to believe that you and Lilah are going to marry, and we're all supposed to forget D."
He noticed his brother straightened immediately at this bit of news. "It's true, Ike. She's insecure, especially about her place and D's right now." He waited a second to bring the final blow. "Plus, we seem to have a new visitor, and I didn't know exactly how to turn him away. So he's in the bedroom next to Mackenzie's and Zac's."
Taylor wrinkled his nose, "So be forewarned, that you most likely will be having a talk about how our younger brothers listens to music at three in the morning. Not to mention, Mackenzie still has the capability of talking his sleep."
Isaac eyed him, and got tired of his aloofness and sarcasm. So he returned it with his own brand. "And who, pray tell me the owner of this establishment, who our new visitor is?"
The answer was unexpected. "Syrus Christian, Ike. Syrus is sleeping in the room between Zac and Mackenzie, waiting until morning to have a word with you."
Isaac jolted from his seat instantly, and leaned down on the desk towering over Taylor. "You let that… bastard into my house?!" He raged before he started pacing. "Jeez, Tay. You know damn well that I would never have let him inside this home! I've never let him come near the girls… not once!"
He stopped suddenly and swung around, his darkened eyes burning into his brother. "He didn't see or touch the girls, did he?"
Taylor shook his head quickly, knowing not to take his time in answering that question. "Of course not! The girls were already upstairs with Randy at the time he came knocking on the door."
"I opened it without thinking, Ike." He explained tightly. "I didn't even recognize him. His hair is all grey now, and he's just…" He shook his head again, "I don't know. He's just not what he used to be."
Isaac glared for a moment. "Well hell." He muttered before moving to sit back down in defeat. "He's already here, he must be what… sixty-seventy years old now?"
"That old?" Taylor questioned; his face and voice registering his shock.
Isaac shrugged, "He was quite a bit older than Kasha, I think." He sighed, the fatigue he'd been fighting showed in his face.
He groaned as he levered himself back out from the chair, "I'm tired, Tay. I'll worry about it all tomorrow. I don't care about it right now."
Nodding, Taylor stood as well and stepped out from behind the desk. Flicking off the light, him and his older brother moved to leave the library. "Did you have a good time on your date?"
Isaac grinned into the darkness. "I had a great time. And if I get things settled with Charm, I hope to do it again."
Clapping him on the shoulder, Taylor laughed. "That's great, Ike. That's really great."
Nodding, they both walked up the stairs then went their separate ways to their own bedrooms. Ending the long day, with hopefully, a good night.
