Asia

The next morning everyone was going about their daily business and the phone rang. Isaac answered the phone. “Hello?”

“May I speak to Isaac?” Said a quiet voice.

“This is he.”

“Hello Isaac, this is Asia. The girl that Zac set you up with.”

“Oh, hi!” Isaac said getting settled onto the kitchen table, his feet dangling.

“Hi.” She said a little more relaxed. “I hope Zac didn’t bug you too much about this.”

“Nah. So Asia, when is the prom?”

“Next Saturday.”

“Cool.” He said swinging his socked feet. “What color is your dress?”

“Green…a deep green.”

“Cool. Green is my favorite color.”

“Really…I think Zac told me that.”

“Well, it seems that he has told you more about me than he has told me about you.”

“Zac’s a strange one.”

“That’s only a slight understatement.” He laughed.

“But he’s a great kid.”

“I’ll have to give you that one. So Asia, is there anything else I need to know for the prom?”

“Ummm, it starts at eight.”

“Do you want to go to dinner first?”

“We don’t have to.”

“Why don’t we? I’d like to get to know you better.”

“It’s okay with me if you want to.”

“Okay, how about….” Isaac and Asia discussed where they would go for dinner and when he would pick her up. “Okay, that sounds good. I will see you then, Asia.”

“Okay, Isaac.”

“Please, you can call me Ike.”

“No, I don’t like that name. You have a beautiful name.”

“Really? Thank you.”

“You're welcome, Isaac.”

He smiled. “I’ll talk to you later.”

“Okay, I’ll talk to you later bye.”

“Bye.”

Isaac hung up the phone. He hopped off of the table.

“Zac!” He yelled up the stairs.

“Yeah?” Zac yelled back from the shower.

“Guess what?”

“Can it wait? I’d like to take a shower.”

“I just wanted to say thanks for setting me up with your friend.”

“No problem, Ike.”
