Monday they were in the studio waiting for the technicians to figure out what was the best placement for the mics on Zac’s drums. Isaac was listening intently to the men as they were discussing the issue.

“Ike.” Zac said disturbing his transfixed state.

“Yeah, Zac.” He said without a hint of aggravation that he had had the past couple of weeks.

“So what do you say to the blind date. I need to know I have to tell this girl. Her and her mom went and bought a dress.” Isaac sighed.

“Okay, tell her I’ll go. I have nothing better to do.” He said.

“Great, I’ll tell her. I swear to you you’ll like her.”

“Fine. I hope that I do. I just hope she isn’t a screaming teeny.”

“She’s not, trust me. I won’t even talk to those girls.”

Isaac nodded. “What do you think of the electric drums, Zac?” He asked returning his gaze to the men putting the mics on the electric drums.

“I think that they will be cool to play with.” He said honestly.

“You better like them.” Isaac joked.

“And if I don’t?” Zac asked mischievously.

“You don’t even want to know.”

“That response tells me that you have no idea how to back up that threat.”

“I’m just letting you think that, little man.”

“You can’t call me little man any more I’m almost as tall as you.”

“But you’re not so you are still little.” Isaac said with a smirk.

“Where’s Tay?”

“Mom said he went to go and get his hair trimmed.”

“Why now?”

“Who knows, you know Tay.”

“True.”

“Okay Zac, why don’t you get over there and try this thing see if we set it up right.” The technician said coming over to them.

“Kay.” Zac sat behind them and began playing.

“This feels weird.” He said to no one in particular. He grinned at his brother who was watching.

“Zac, do the idea that you were telling me about. I thought that it would sound fantastic on the electric set.”

“Kay.” Zac began to work it out. “Ike, is the regular drums set up?”

“Yeah, I think so.”

“Go sit at it.”

“Why?”

“Just do it.”

“I can’t play the drums, Zac.”

“Come on Ike, the village idiot could do what I want you to do.”

"Oh gee, thanks, Zac. I feel loved.” Isaac got situated at the drums. “Okay, what do you want me to do?”

“Okay, you see the peddle for the bass drum?”

“Yeah.” He said looking down.

“Put your foot on it. And everytime the off beat happens, press it. Hard. I want to hear that.”

“Okay.”

“Steve, could you record this? I want to hear it.”

“Okay, Zac.” Steve turned a few buttons. “Okay Zac, Ike, whenever you two are ready.”

“Ike, I’m gonna count off. The down beat will be on the snare.”

Isaac nodded putting on his headphones. Zac counted off on his sticks and they did the drum part. Zac stopped them. "Okay Ike, I want you to do a double beat every time I hit the snare so instead of boom I want it boom-boom. Real close together.”

Isaac nodded.

“Ready, Steve?”

“When you are.” The worked on this for a little while doing it perfectly. Zac improvised every once in a while making Isaac smile.

“Okay, that’s enough let’s listen to it.” They got out of the booth and went to where they would listen to what they had just recorded. The technician hit play and they listened.

“Wow, I like that, Zac.”

“I do too, I wonder if Tay will?”

“Tay will what?” Taylor said from behind them.

They both looked behind them Taylor’s hair was just slightly too short. He looked odd.

“What did you do to your hair? Did you have them cut you bangs?” Zac asked rather bluntly.

“Let’s not go there. I don’t want to talk about it.”

“I wouldn’t either.” Zac said.

Taylor gave him a dirty look.

“Zac and I recorded a drum part.”

“You mean Zac did.” Taylor said pushing hair behind his ears.

“No, he means we both did.”

“Ike, you can’t play the drums.”

“No, but I can play the bass drum.”

“Ahhh.” He said pushing hair back behind his ear again.

“Here listen.” Ike said.

The lady turned it on again, and Taylor listened. “I like it.” He said pushing his hair back behind his ear.

“Taylor, stop it.”

“What?”

“You need a hair tie?”

“It won’t go back. I tried.”

“Here let me.” Zac said tying his brother's hair back in a half pony.

"There.”

“Bother you much, Zac?”

“Just a tad.”

“Okay, I say we work on getting the guitar and piano in there.” Isaac said.

“Sounds like a plan to me.” Taylor said.
