Asia

Saturday was a buzz with activity not only for Isaac, but also for Asia and her mother.

“Mom, you really like my hair this way?” She said turning for her frail mom.

“You look so beautiful.” Asia’s mother had tears in her eyes. “I’m so glad that I’m still here to see this.”

“Oh, Mom.” Asia said and wrapped her arms around her mother. Asia looked at the clock. “Oh my, it’s almost time for him to be here.” She put on her shoes and the doorbell rang.

“I’ll get it.” Asia’s dad said. He opened the door and there stood Isaac. Clad in a black suit holding a corsage for Asia. Asia’s father smiled broadly and allowed the teen admittance into his home. Isaac smiled and breathed a 'hi.'

“So you must be Isaac."

“Yes, sir.”

“It’s very nice to meet you.”

“It’s very nice to meet you, Mr. Tompkin.”

“Please, call me Brad.”

Isaac just smiled. Asia descended the stair steps at that moment. He was breath-taken, Zac had never mentioned that she was beautiful. He subconsciously ran his hand through his short hair.

“You look wonderful.” Isaac said.

“Thank you.” She blushed.

Asia’s mother came down the stairs. Mr. Tompkin helped her down the stairs. She looked Isaac over and smiled. “You are perfect for my daughter.”

“Thank you, ma’am.” Isaac said bowing his head a little to keep from blushing. “We should get going, Asia.”

“Yes, we should.”

He offered her his hand and they left for the dance.

That night, Zac stayed up waiting for Isaac to get home. Isaac got home late. He closed the door softly behind him and laid his keys gently on the table. Zac practically pounced on him.

“So did you have fun?” Zac asked wide-eyed.

Isaac smiled despite himself. “Yes, I did. She is a very nice young girl.”

“Told you so.” Zac smiled. “So are you two going to go out again sometime?” He asked hopeful.

“I don’t know…I’d like to.”

Zac’s grin grew.

“Why are you so eager for the two of us to go out, Zac?” “I just want the both of you happy.”

“Sure.” Isaac said unconvinced.

“Seriously.”

“Uh-huh.”

“You don’t believe me.”

“What would lead you to believe that, little brother?”

“I don’t know, maybe the tone you are giving me.”

“What tone?”

“Isaac.” Zac whined putting his hands on his hips

“Taylor...” Isaac said laughing.

“That’s not funny, Ike.”

“I’m going to bed.”

“Night.”

“Night.”
