One

Zac closed his eyes for second, took in a deep breath, and counted to ten. If he didn't calm down soon, something bad would have to happen. The thought made a small smile touch his lips, but was fleeting as he heard the argument again. I can't do it. I wouldn't even know where to begin!
He sighed and recited off his own argument, "Summer, you can do it. And you need to! You said you wanted a job for some extra cash. This is it. And you'll be doing what you love."
She still hesitated though. Reluctance etched into her face, as her frown deepened with thought. "I wouldn't know how to do it, Zac." She replied softly. "What if I screw up, and someone gets hurt because I wasn't watching close enough." Her head shook, "I couldn't do that."
Zac shook his head as well, and tossed a look over his shoulders at Jakob, Kim, and Mechelle sitting near the small brick wall out the front of Seymour. "You just had to get cold feet at the stairs?" He asked out loud.
Rhetorical as it was, Summer was prepared to answer. "Yes."
He smiled again, and then took her should and shook her slightly. "You can do it, and you will, or I'll tie you to the back of Kim's chair and she'll scooter you in."
Summer smiled faintly too at the mental image of it. "I just don't know how to do it, Zac." Her voice pleading for understanding.
He took her hand, "Come." He told her, pulling gently. "You'll see it's not so bad."
The doubtful look on her face made him try a different approach. "They're all already excited about this opportunity, Summer." He confessed quietly.
"There's one girl here, Christine." He started explaining, "She was in ballet from since she was four until she was nine, and then one day a friend of hers was playing around inside with some cleaning products, mixing them together, and somehow managed to spray her in the eyes, and caused her to go blind. She's twelve now, and she's still keeping up with the ballet news."
Drowning him out, Summer allowed herself to be dragged up to the large brick building. This was it. As soon as she was through those doors, she knew she couldn't turn back. If she wanted out, she had to do it now.
Zac said something that caught her attention and she turned her head to ask what. When she did, she saw the doorjamb pass her by, her feet already carrying her through the halls.
Looking forward, she swallowed hard. Too late. She was already in, and her chance had passed her by quickly.
Stifling a groan, she found herself being pushed into an office. She smiled shakily at Doreen, who smiled back broadly and handed over her new schedule.
Trembling fingers took it. "Thank you."
Winking, Doreen continued on bustling around the office and pulling up files and putting papers together. "Zac, you better hurry boy, you got about seven-eight minutes before class starts." She warned, "And you still gotta show Summer to her room."
Zac flashed her a confident grin, "I'll be fine, Doreen. And so will Summer."
She smirked at him, "I'm not worried about Summer here," She retorted, "It's you that's always late. And don't think I didn't notice how my clock in here is five minutes slow."
He laughed, "Just saving myself some time." He answered innocently, ushering Summer from the room. "Don't wanna give her more amo." He whispered loudly as they walked down the hall.
She laughed, "I don't think you have to. She's got enough without you giving her some." She replied quickly, causing him to chuckle.
