"Live In Black 'N' White"

"No, Ike, you just don't get it!" Kym shouted at him. "You'll never understand!" She screamed as she shoved him away as he tried to embrace her.

The tears were running fast down her cheeks. Hot, nearly burning. She was shaking violently and she couldn't control herself. She was so cold, and yet so hot at the same time. As if her skin was made of ice, but lava ran in her veins.

Isaac watched heart wrenchingly as he stared at his friend. Watched as she fell apart before his eyes. "Why do you think I can't understand it?" He questioned, a bit more harshly than he wanted to.

No one could talk to her when she got like this. Though she hadn't been getting like this until recently.

Both of her were parents killed in a plane crash, relatives fighting over and abandoning her, and social workers aching to put her in a home.

Kym stared at him. Cold glacier blue/grey eyes meeting his deep chocolate brown ones. "Ike, look at your life!" She shrieked.

He shook his head, not understanding what she meant.

She sighed loudly. "Ike," She started in a strangled voice. "You have both parents, siblings who are always there and behind you in what you do, love every which way you turn!" She stated.

Isaac shrugged his shoulders. Of course his family was like that. So what was the point?

Kym sighed again. "Ike!" She said loudly. "You are so sheltered from life." She told him flat out. "You are in this make-believe world where reality has yet to touch."

She cleared her throat, but kept on talking. "You don't know what it's like to feel a lot of pain, and to be alone. Because no matter what," She whispered. "You have your family."

"Kym, I don't know where you get these thoughts from, but my family won't always be there." He stated coldly. Hating to have his family shoved in his face.

Kym shook her head. "You're right, they won't always be there." She murmured. "But you do have your whole family. And they all care about each other. And you'll have that for forever."

Isaac started to shake his head, but Kym continued on. "If one of your siblings were to go out into the world and fall, or fail, your whole family be there for that person to fall back upon and to lean on." She told him quietly.

He was quiet then. Knowing she said that part, at least, right.

She started to walk away, when she turned back around to stare at him. "Ike, do you honestly don't know how lucky you are to have such a family?" She asked. "To live in such a dream? To live in some colorful world, where you don't see the ugly black and white?"

"I don't live in dream." Isaac told her sharply.

"Maybe not," Kym told him gently. Tiredly. "But you do dream in color."

She started to walk away. "Live in black n' white, Ike. See what it's like not to have anyone, or a dream. To be so alone and see everyone, yet have no one. To know that when you fall, no one will be there waiting to catch you."

"Wait!" Isaac shouted to her. Not wanting to end it like this.

Kym turned around. "Live in black n' white." She repeated. "And then, and only then," She said softly. "Will you know what it's like to be in reality."

"And to be me." She added, before she walked out of his life forever.

In the days to follow, Isaac thought carefully on what Kym said. He understood that he had a cushion under him. His family.

She was right, he was lucky to live in the colorful world that was build for him, and what he had already added onto it. He was a naive child. Playing in some grown-up world.

He grimaced deeply, "That's made of black n' white." He admitted.
