Chapter #10

“Hey Ike, whatcha doin’?” Taylor asked as he tried to shake his older brother out of his thoughts.

Isaac continued to stare at his hands. His elbows were resting on his knees, and his hands were dangling in front of him. Yet he was examining them.

“Think I should move my ring over one finger?” He asked suddenly.

Zac looked up from his sketchpad. “Why would you do a thing like that?” He asked confused by the question.

Shrugging, Isaac continued to stare down at his hands. “Well, I am engaged to D now.” He stated slowly. “And she wears a ring to show she’s taken.”

Taylor shrugged, mimicking him. “So?” He questioned.

Isaac sighed, “Don’t you get it?” He queried. “If D shows that she’s taken, then shouldn’t I do the same?”

“She’s a girl.” Zac said noncommittally. “She’s supposed to.”

“So because I’m the guy, I’m not supposed to show I’m taken?” Isaac asked quizzically.

“Basically yeah.” Taylor admitted.

“Come on, guys.” Mr. Hanson said sticking his head into the room. “Interview time.”

“Okay, Dad.” Zac said as he put his pad down and stood up.

Taylor pulled his hair back and twisted a black rubber band around it. “Thanks, Dad.” He called out as their father left their room.

Rolling his eyes, Isaac stood up also. He took his ring off his middle finger and placed it on his ring finger. “I don’t care what either of you two say, I’m showing that I’m taken.”

“So Zac, you just celebrated your thirteenth birthday not too long ago, didn’t you?” One man asked smiling.

Zac smiled, kind of confused by the question. “Yeah, I did.” He said slowly.

“So how’d you celebrate it?” He asked glancing down at his notepad for a second before looking back up and smiling.

Zac smiled at him again. “Well, see I can’t tell ya.” He said shrugging. “Cause then I’d hafta to kill ya.”

Taylor and Isaac laughed as they looked in between the reported and their brother.

The man grinned and turned towards Isaac and Taylor. “And Isaac, you just turned legal eighteen.” He stated as he glanced back down at his notepad again and then back up. “How does that feel?”

Isaac smiled, “Well, you don’t really feel any different age-wise but you do get more responsibilities. It’s cool though and I enjoy it.

He nodded and looked back down at his notepad and then looked each of them over carefully.

Then he smiled at Taylor and Isaac. “I see that Taylor has a new ring,” He stated. “And that Isaac, you have switched the ring from your middle finger, to your ring finger.”

His smile widened. “Can we assume that you two are taken?”

“Oh, no.” Isaac and Taylor said in unison. Holding up their hands as if to stop the line the question was going.

“Neither of us have girlfriends.” Taylor said shaking his head. He gave off a sad and pathetic look.

“This was actually given to me by another one of our fans.” He simply replied. Shrugging, he continued, “I guess it was to go with the other ring I got. Or well, we all got the same ring actually.”

Isaac turned from Taylor to the reporter. “My hands grew, and I couldn’t fit the ring on my middle finger no more.” He explained shrugging. “So I just moved it over.”

“So none of you have girlfriends?” He asked, as if to make absolutely sure.

All three of them nodded.

“Not even you, Zac?” He questioned slyly.

Zac grinned. “Like what am I going to do with a girlfriend?”

He smiled. “Date her?”

At that Zac started shaking his head ‘no.’ “No!” He said quickly.

Taylor and Isaac started laughing again.

“Zac, doesn’t want a girlfriend yet.” Taylor stated, as he continued to laugh as Zac made gagging noises.

“Yeah, he really doesn’t want one.” Isaac commented, as he too was laughing at Zac’s antics.

The interview ended at that, and Isaac, Taylor, and Zac were glad that it did. It just may prove difficulty to hide the girls in Isaac and Taylor’s lives.
