Chapter #14

“They’re asking for dates already.” Isaac said slowly into the phone. He had been talking to Dahven for the last half an hour and finally decided to tell her about his encounter with Taylor yesterday.

Dahven laughed lightly. “Yeah, I know. Randy asked me as well this mornin.’ ” She admitted, though he couldn’t see her, Isaac could hear her smile in her voice.

He chuckled to himself. “So you think we may wanna choose one?” He asked softly.

“Hmm, might be a good idea.” She commented. The she laughed again. “Think maybe April Fools Day?”

“No way, D!” Isaac exclaimed laughing.

She was laughing as well. “Just a suggestion.” She replied.

“Nah, we should choose something else. God only knows what Zac and Taylor would conjure up to do to us on if we used that day.”

“I always did love silly string.” Dahven confessed grinning to herself.

She heard him laughing again. God it felt great talking to him. It had been at least two days since she last talked to him.

‘That’s over forty-eight hours. Over one thousand-four hundred- forty minutes.’ She said to herself.

‘That’s over… Forget it. Seconds is going just too far into math.’

“You there, D?” She heard Isaac’s voice ask worriedly.

Dahven jerked herself from her thoughts and smiled sheepishly. “Sorry, I was thinking about how long it’s been since we last talked.”

She heard him laughing again. “It’s only been two days, D.” He told her.

“I know…” She started, then she shrugged to herself. “But I can’t help it.” She insisted. “I love you.”

He wasn’t laughing now, and Dahven sucked in a deep breath of air. They may have been saying that to each other for a long time now, but there was always that chance he wouldn’t repeat the words back to her.

“I love you too.” He told he gently.

At that, Dahven’s face glowed with excitement and happiness. She would never tire of hearing him say that… not ever.

After a few moments, the two caught themselves in a moment and cleared their voices. Wanting to get back to talking again, though each was grinning broadly.

“So what date are we choosing?” Dahven asked sweetly.

“Hey, Tay.” Isaac said as he dropped down next to him on the couch.

Taylor nodded and looked up from the laptop in front of him. He irritatingly pushed up his wire frame glasses. A small frown was tugging his lips into a thin line.

“Did you know Randy is slowing down with her dates and appearances and performances?” He stated it, more than asked.

Isaac nodded his head. “Yeah, D and I were just talking about it.” He replied. Cautiously he looked his brother over. “Why?” He asked slowly.

“I dunno.” Taylor said shrugging. “It just seems… odd to me. I mean why would she slow down?” He asked. “She’s just reaching a peak!”

“Calm down, Tay.” Isaac said grinning. “Maybe she just needs to go slow. Sometimes moving too fast can just take a huge toll on somebody.”

Sighing quietly to himself, Taylor leaned back into the couch and started thinking. He should’ve done that in the first place before he started talking.

Because the more he started thinking about it, the more he started to realize that Randy and Dahven didn’t have a lot of people traveling with them.

And those that did travel with them didn’t stay too long. They were always switching and trading off with other bands and other agencies for back up players, singers, and even bodyguards at times.

Isaac was getting up, when he sat up again. “Thanks, Ike.” He said as his fingers started flying over the keys.

“Why are you thanking me?” Isaac asked laughing.

After a few seconds Taylor looked up at him and smiled. “Because… I dunno.” He said shrugging. “You were there?” He asked.

Isaac nodded. “That’ll work.” He told him.

Taylor laughed. “Okay.” He said before going back to his e-mail to Randy.

Zac bounded down the stairs when he saw his two brothers in the living room. ‘Now or never.’ He thought wryly to himself. ‘God, please watch over me here for a few seconds.’ He begged before he walked up to his older siblings.

“Hey guys.” He squeaked.

Isaac looked up at him, from his gaze over Taylor’s shoulder. “Oh, hey Zac.” He said nonchalantly. “What’s up?”

Taylor looked up at him and smiled. “Hey, Zac.”

Zac gave him a weak smile. “Nothin’ much.” He responded before walking into the kitchen. “They’re gonna kill me.” He stated to the toaster.
