Chapter #17

“Sorry we’re late.” Dahven apologized as she stepped into the warm Hanson house, as well as into Isaac’s arms.

He gave her a quick peck on the lips and smiled down at her. “Forgiven. But why were you two late?” He asked as he helped them inside completely before shutting the door behind them.

Dahven looked over at Randy. “Do you want to tell them, or should I?” She asked gently.

Randy shrugged her shoulders as a blush crept up onto her cheeks. But because she was wrapped in Taylor’s arms, she was easily able to hide it by burying her face in his chest.

Taylor had laughed slightly, and only hugged her tighter and closer to him.

“She got a lil’ air sick...” Dahven explained slowly.

Isaac started laughing. “D, she’s been on a plane like thirty times already.”

Dahven shrugged her shoulders. “What can I say?” She questioned.

“Hmm, the truth?” He supplied thoughtfully.

Lightly she punched him in the stomach. “She got nervous, okay?” She asked. “Let’s just leave it at that for now.”

“Hey, girls.” Mrs. Hanson said walking in quietly. She gave them each a big hug. “Glad you finally made.

“Enjoying your feet on the home-ground?” She asked them, referring to them being back in Tulsa.

“Yes, ma’am.” Randy said smiling nervously. Though Tulsa wasn’t her real home, it was still home to her.

Mrs. Hanson smiled at her. “Better keep this one, Tay.” She said winking at him. “She’s a real keeper.”

Taylor laughed lightly again, but blushed as well. “Thanks for the advice, Mom.” He said sarcastically as he rolled his eyes.

But to show that he was teasing, he leaned over and pecked her cheek.

“Come in, come in.” Mrs. Hanson bustled as she nearly dragged them all into the dining room to eat the meal she had made and saved for them.

Dahven grinned and eagerly took her spot next to Isaac. She glanced over at Randy for a second, and smiled when she saw her talking to Mrs. Hanson.

“She was nervous about this?” Isaac whispered after a few seconds of staring at Randy, Taylor, and his mom talking.

She nodded slowly. “Just wanting to make sure she belonged. Just the jitters I guess.”

Isaac nodded as well, before they both turned to look at each. When their eyes connected they smiled brightly.

“And what about that surprise you were telling me about?” He asked after minutes of their staring contest.

Dahven grinned. “Oh yeah!” She stated as if suddenly remembering it. “I was thinking about the wedding, and how we were talking about needing a date for it.”

Isaac chuckled and nodded. “Well, most people settle some form of a time frame.” He admitted. “It has been done before.”

“Ah, shush.” She said smiling happily at him.

“Okay, so what were you thinking about?” He asked smiling back at her.

Dahven’s smile had widened, and she took his hand tightly in hers. “How about in April?” She asked him. Of course wanting his input on it.

“There’s no birthdays...” She stated. “No anniversaries. It’d be our own month.” She then giggled slightly. “In a matter of speaking, and for the time being.”

Isaac was silent for a moment, thinking about it. After a few moments he lifted his head and smiled at her. “April it is then.” He confirmed.

Ecstatic that they finally had a date for the day they were going to spend the rest of their lives together.

Evidently Dahven had been thinking the same, because her eyes started to shine just as brightly as his were.

“Charm, aren’t you hungry?” Mrs. Hanson asked concernedly.

It was at that time, Dahven really noticed a plate of food in front of her. She smiled over at Mrs. Hanson and nodded her head, her throat too tight with emotion to answer. But her eyes and smile said it all.

However, Mrs. Hanson knew the look, and understood what was going on. And so she smiled proudly at them.
