Chapter #2

Slowly Dahven got ready for Isaac’s birthday party. She had yet to get him a gift. And he was still here. Once he left, she was going to go shopping with Angel for the present.

The thing right now, was actually getting Isaac to leave.

She smiled at this little irony. This was one time when she actually WANTED Isaac to leave. But she had good reason. You can’t buy a present for someone when they’re there with you. That basically takes away the whole surprise of the gift.

She crept to the doorway of her room, where Isaac was singing Angel to sleep. She listened closely to the words. Being drawn in by them as she leaned against the wall and slid down until she was sitting on the floor.

Listening to Isaac’s gentle and deep voice. Listened as emotion poured from the words he sang quietly to hush the sounds of a crying babe.

She listened closely to the words:

‘Can this be true, tell me can this be real? How can I put into words what I feel? My life was complete, I thought I was whole. Why do I feel like I'm losing control? Never thought that love could feel like this. Then you changed my world with just one kiss. How can it be that right here with me. There's and angel, it's a miracle. Your love is like a river, peaceful and deep. Your soul is like a secret that I never could keep. When I look into your eyes, I know that it's true. God must have spent a little more time on you. A little more time. Yes, he did baby. In all of creation, all things great and small, you are the one that surpasses them all. More precious than any diamond or pearl. They broke the mold when you came to this world. And I'm trying hard to figure out. Just how I ever did without the warmth of your smile, the heart of a child. That's deep inside, it leaves me purified. Your love is like a river, peaceful and deep. Your soul is like a secret that I never could keep. When I look into your eyes, I know that it's true. God must have spent a little more time on you. You never thought that love could feel like this. Then you changed my world with just one kiss. How can it be that right here with me, there's an angel, it's a miracle. Your love is like a river, peaceful and deep. Your soul is like a secret that I never could keep. When I look into your eyes, I know that it's true. God must have spent a little more time on you. On you, On you, On you, You. God must have spent a little more time On you, on you, you A little more time on you Ohhh.’

She heard him kiss her. The soft sound that escaped from Angel as she was laid into her crib.

Dahven felt the tears on her cheeks. She hadn’t known she was crying until she went to rub her eyes, and felt the wetness of tears.

Isaac came out walking slowly and nearly tripped over Dahven. He looked down at her smiling. But once he saw her tearstained face he was instantly next to her with his arms around her. “D, what’s wrong?” He asked softly. Concern filling her voice.

The way he held her and rocked her gently, and talked so softly to her, made Dahven only cry more as she held onto him tightly. “I love you.” She whispered.

He laughed lightly into her hair. “Is that all?” He asked.

Dahven gave off a watery laugh but pulled slightly away from him. “No, Isaac. I mean it.” She said seriously as she stared as deep as she could in his eyes. Not fearing to make this step. “I really love you.” She murmured.

“Heart and soul?” Isaac asked quietly. As serious as she was.

She nodded her head so slowly. Answering his question.

Isaac smiled softly at her. “I know.” He told her. “I feel the same way.” He confessed.

Dahven didn’t need to hear him say it. But it felt so good that he did. She hugged him again. So tightly in her arms. And he did the same.

“Come on you guys!” Randy said loudly from the small library’s entrance. She rolled her eyes towards them. “You’re always in that same position it seems.” She grumbled.

Isaac laughed as he stood and helped up Dahven. He placed his arms around her instantly. “Awww.” He murmured.

Randy rolled her eyes again. “Dude, you gotta go to your house for your party, and she’s gotta shop.” She told him sternly.

He nodded his head as he looked at her. Waiting for her to go.

Groaning, Randy stalked off.

Isaac chuckled to himself, as he tightened his grip on Dahven. “I’ll see you tonight?” He questioned. Although he already knew the answer.

“Of course.” She assured him.

He gave her a swift kiss, before he started down the hallway and downstairs.

Dahven had walked into hers and Angel’s room and watched as Isaac walked down the driveway to his car. He looked up at her and smiled and waved. She repeated his gestures. She watched as he pulled out of the driveway and drove down the street.

“God, if I wasn’t here, you and Ike wouldn’t do anything!” Randy said as she tossed her hands up into the air and handed Dahven her purse. “Now go find Romeo’s present.”

“Okay, but then I’m going to look for Isaac’s.” Dahven said smiling as she walked out the room.

"No, Isaac. I think you're wrong." Dahven said quietly to herself. "God must have spent a little more time on you."
