Chapter #25

"Hi, Za..." Dahven started, as she was about to step out of her car.

Zac quickly jumped into the passenger's seat. "Ac." She finished.

She looked at him through her opened car door. "In a hurry?" She asked curiously.

"Charm!" Mrs. Hanson called from the front door.

Dahven looked up instantly, and waved at her. "Mornin' Mrs. Hanson!" She called out smiling.

She returned her wave, "When you get back come in, and talk with me young lady!" She said trying to be stern. Her hands were on her hips, but smiling all the way through it.

Laughing, Dahven nodded and slid back into her car. Turning the key in the ignition, and putting it in reverse, she started backing down the driveway.

Once she was pulling forward up the street, she gave Zac a quick glance. "K, spill it, dude." She told him.

Zac looked up at her and smiled. "Do you know how long it's been since we went out exploring?" He asked her.

Dahven gave a quick smile. "Yeah, New York."

"Yeah, New York." He stressed. "That was months ago." He stated.

"Ok, I get it." She replied, smiling as she drove. "So what antique store have we failed to hit yet?" She asked. "There's like a thousand of them here, but we've hit like nine-hundred- and ninety-nine of 'em."

"Nine hundred-ninety-nine." Zac responded reflexively.

She gave him an odd look before turning back to the road. "Wha?" She asked.

"You don't say "and" when you're saying a number. Unless it has a decimal in it." He told her shrugging his shoulders. "Saying "and" means you're putting in a decimal point."

Dahven grinned at him, "Oh, my God." She stated loudly, before she started laughing.

"What?" He asked confused by her laughter. He was right.

"I just got corrected by a thirteen year old." She said shaking her head.

"So?" He asked indignantly. "I am smart for my age."

She smiled some more. "That's very true oh, wise one."

After a second's worth of silence she looked over at him again. "Since you corrected me, genius." She told him. "I'm buying you lunch, and taking you anywhere you wanna go."

When she saw his sly grin she quickly added, "That's within reason, Zachary."

Zac scrunched up his nose at that, "Zac, not Zachary." He replied distastefully. "And I wanna go to… Wendy's they've got that new chicken sandwich, and I wanna go back to that one antique shop where they had that small water fountain in the center."

Dahven groaned at the description. She had lost over five hundred dollars there the last time they had gone inside the extremely expensive store.

But she had made that promise… without even thinking about it, she started to turn her car in the direction of the shop.

Zac was grinning from ear to ear, "So what's this surprise you've got cooked up for Tay?" He asked lounging back in his seat.

At that, Dahven grinned slyly. "It's a secret." She replied.

"Ah, man." He whined. "Come on, ya gotta tell me." He begged.

She gave him a sideways glance and shrugged her shoulders, "Let's just say, there's going to be a huge get together at my place, and my present to Tay will have a big red bow."

Zac rolled his eyes, "Can you be anymore vague?" He questioned sarcastically.

Dahven nodded her head. "I'm sure I can."

He groaned and she smiled triumphantly, torture was sweet when it came to secrets.
