Chapter #28

Dahven was sitting quietly in her rocking chair. Rocking gently back in forth as she half-watched Angel sleeping in her crib, and half-stared at nothing.

Her mind too busy thinking about Arie and her firm.

"You know, you may just wear out that carpet from all that rocking." Isaac chided softly from her doorway.

Dahven didn't turn to look at him, and continued rocking. "You know, sometimes I never get to sit down and think long and hard on one thing." She told him.

"Usually it's always a quick decision. Either it's 'yes' or 'no,' just right then in there. No chances or time for a second thought."

Isaac entered, wanting to hear more. Knowing that there was. He sat slowly on her bed, next to where she was rocking rhythmically.

"Now that I have this time to think…" She continued.

"You're having those second thoughts?" He asked her gently.

Dahven nodded wordlessly. Then she turned to him, her eyes full of confusion. "And third… and fourths."

He took a deep breath then. "What have you come up with?" His voice shaky.

"I think…" She started strenuously. "I want to give it to him."

Isaac's head snapped up. "Give who what?" He asked quickly.

She looked over at him again; "Arie wants the firm in Washington." She told him, her voice almost a whisper.

She turned her face away. "I know he wants it, so that he can be a proud husband and father. Proving to his family that he's an important man."

Isaac sighed in relief, "God, D!" He said loudly, as he smiled at her.

When she looked at him, confusion marked deeper on her face, "What did you think I was talking about?"

He grinned and covered her hand with his. "D, I thought you were talking about having second thoughts about our engagement.

Dahven smiled a little at first, then it grew, and ended in laughter.

Getting up, she went and sat on his lap. Placing her forehead to his, she gave him a soft kiss on his nose. "Don't ever think I'm going to back out now!" She said firmly.

Isaac continued to grin up at her.

"You are not getting rid of me!" She said before smiling again and then placing a sweet kiss on his lips.

He responded instantly. Sealing her promise with that kiss, and making his own promise. The same as hers.
