Chapter #5

Taylor grabbed Randy's hand and led her away from the group. He smiled down at her, marveling in how lucky he actually was to have her for his girlfriend.

Randy was staring up at Taylor. He had this weird look on a face along with an even weirder smile. "Tay, what is it?" She asked with mild uncertainty. Fearing the worse.

Shaking his head, he snatched up her left hand. He slipped a ring onto her finger. "It's a promise ring, Randy." He stated softly.

Randy was staring at it intently. "Yeah, I know what it is, Taylor." She said laughing lightly, awed by this display of affection.

"We've always talked about marriage in the future." He started off.

Randy nodded her head and moved her thumb over the ring slightly. Loving the new and slightly awkward feel of it. She noticed the two black hearts separated by a black cross. "It's perfect." She murmured.

Taylor grinned at her appreciation. Then he took her hand in his again. Pulling gently on her arm until she was against his chest. That's when he looked into her eyes and then kissed her gently, lovingly.

Dahven pointed out the figures of Taylor and Randy through the tree to Isaac. She laughed quietly along with him.

"If I know him, he gave her the ring." He told her softly.

Eyes round and huge, Dahven stared at him. "He proposed?" She whispered.

Isaac laughed openly at her. "No, no, no." He chuckled at the thought. "A promise ring, D. No marriage for them yet."

Dahven sighed with relief then. "Gosh, I was like 'Whoa, little young, huh?' " She shook her head and started laughing at herself for thinking such a thought.

Isaac and Dahven started to walk around a little bit too. Enjoying the peaceful evening as the sun was setting quietly in brilliant colors. They sat upon one of the bench swings.

"It sure is pretty." Dahven commented lightly.

"Yes, it is." Isaac replied as he raised his hand, which held Dahven's. He brushed her knuckles once under his lips.

All Dahven could do was look over at him. Moved by his gentleness.

"I have a question, D." Isaac stated softly. "And I'm nervous about it."

Dahven swallowed hard. "Isaac, you're making me nervous now." She responded. Forcing a shaky smile. She let out a small wobbly laugh too.

"I know I am, and I'm sorry. But I have to get this out." Getting up with ease, he knelt down in front of her. "Now I know I only just turned eighteen D," He started slowly. He heard Dahven suck in a deep breath.

Isaac just smiled sweetly at her. "But next year I want to marry you."

He waited for a few seconds for her answer. "D, I just asked you to marry me. Are you going to give me an answer?"

Dahven's eyes started to water, then spill over. She slid off the bench swing next to him. "I will, Isaac. I will marry you."

Isaac smiled happily. "I'm sensing a 'but' coming up." He stated.

Her head bobbed up and down. "You are to never kneel before me again. You either take me as your equal, or you do not take me at all." She propositioned him.

His laugh was loud, but joyous. "Agreed, D. Oh, I agree." He commented as he kissed her hard on her mouth.

Dahven welcomed the kiss and returned it. Letting it last as long as possible.

When they pulled back, they were both smiling broadly. Silly grins plastered on their faces.

"Oh, before I forget." Isaac said as he dug into his pants pocket. He took out a small box and opened it to Dahven.

She stared at it unblinkingly. Stunned by the small splendor it held.

"It's silver-gold. Since I know how much you don't like real gold." Isaac stated as he took the small, expensive, ring from it's box and onto Dahven's ring finger on her left hand.

Dahven stared at the small fine diamond. Marveled in its simple beauty.

Isaac kissed the ring. "Let's go tell the others."

Shock wore off slightly, and Dahven nodded her head.

Once the news was spread Mr. and Mrs. Hanson instantly hugged both girls. Excited and happy that their two sons were matched happily in relationships, where they not actually gave love, they received it too.
