Chapter #6

“Mrs. Hanson, do you mind if I borrow Isaac tonight, for his birthday present?” Dahven asked quietly.

Looking up from tying Mackie’s shoe, Mrs. Hanson smiled warmly at her. “Of course, dear.” She instantly consented.

Dahven grinned. “Don’t worry I will have him home at a decent hour.” She stated.

Mrs. Hanson laughed lightly. “Ah, I think he’s old enough to know when he needs to get home now.”

Right then they heard shouts of laughter, so they both turned their heads to see what was going on. Isaac had Taylor in a headlock and Zac was spraying him with the water hose.

Giggling, Dahven turned to her. “Are you sure about that?” She teased.

“Well, uh…” Mrs. Hanson trailed off before she burst out laughing as Zac accidentally squirted Isaac.

Leaving him standing still, shocked, and wet.

Randy came up to the two and was laughing also. She was holding Angel and Jessica was holding onto Avery’s hand, while Mackie was trying to get in on the fun with his brothers. Mr. Hanson though, was holding Zoë against his shoulder and was videotaping his boys.

“Hey, D?” Isaac questioned as he held Angel tightly in his arms, walking in behind Dahven..

“Hmm?” Dahven asked as she turned and looked down at her baby sister. She envied her at that moment. Being wrapped so close and protectively by Isaac was indeed heaven.

“Are you ever going to change the name of your house now?” He asked as only held Angel closer to him.

Dahven shrugged her shoulders. “I think it’s odd to name a house, Isaac. But it’s Aries’ and mine right now still. I guess if I was to ever have control over it, yeah I would change it.”

“Then what would you name it?” He pursued.

“I don’t know.” Dahven replied truthfully as she handed him the baby tote bag. “Think you can lay her down, while I go work on your present?” She asked him smiling.

Isaac laughed lightly. “I think I can handle that task.” He stated rolling his eyes playfully.

Dahven laugh too. “Good.” She pecked his cheek as she gave him a small push towards the stairs.

Walking into the kitchen she started digging into her refrigerator for the contents that she and Rosie had made together, for this special night. Rosie had prepared while Dahven was at Isaac’s birthday party and supposedly left simple directions for her to follow.

“Let’s just hope that they are simple.” Dahven muttered to herself. Cause anyone could tell you that she was not a master chef. It was hard not to burn water.

She hear someone humming softly and started looking around the room. The singing stopped so she shrugged her shoulders and went back to filling a pot with water and setting it on the stove.

Grabbing the instructions, Dahven scratched her head. “I need to learn Spanish again.” She grumbled.

A few seconds later she could hear the humming again. Again she started looking around.

That was when she saw the baby monitor sitting on top of the microwave.

It was Isaac humming to Angel upstairs.

Quitting her previous motions of trying to decipher Rosie’s directions she went over and grabbed the baby monitor. Turning it up, she walked back over to the pot and picked up the directions again.

Dahven hummed along with Isaac, when he stopped and started talking quietly to Angel.

‘You know that I’m going to marry your sister soon, don’t you?’

He had asked her gently.

Dahven smiled. She could almost picture him leaning into Angel’s cradle, asking her this.

She laughed slightly when she heard Angel giggle, and then heard Isaac’s small chuckle.

“I think I’m going to ask her to change your name when she changes hers.”

Isaac spoke with a quiet but hopeful voice.

Angel had giggled again.

“You’d like to be a Hanson too, wouldn’t you?’

His voice was now low and sweet. As if caught up in the shock of a miracle.

Dahven felt the tears on her cheeks for the second time that day. She cried softly for a moment before she noticed that the water was about to boil over.

Immediately she was turning down the temperature and adding the angel hair pasta that had been already left out for her. All she had to do now was take the sauce from the jaw, a specialty of Rosie’s, which whom no one had the recipe to but her, and put it in a saucepan and heat it up.

This had to be easy, she thought smiling tearfully to herself, as she wiped at her tears with the backs of her hands.
