Chapter #9

“So how long are we going to be in Florida?” Randy asked as she bounced Angel playfully on her lap.

Dahven shrugged her shoulders tiredly, and leaned her head into the back of her seat. “I’ve told you three times already.” She grumbled. “It hasn’t changed in the past five minutes.”

Randy smiled at her sheepishly, she held Angel up in front of her. “Can’t blame me.” She replied. “I got a cute baby in my hands. That’s a big distraction.”

Laughing lightly, Dahven nodded her head. “I know. She’s really cute.” She stated as she touched her little sister’s hair lovingly. She had no idea what she would do without her.

“You know, I don’t want to sound offensive or anything,” She said biting her lip.

Dahven sighed loudly and warily. “Oh, God. What is it?” She questioned. Squeezing her eyes shut, preparing for the worst.

Randy giggled. “Nothing really bad, Charm.” She said rolling her eyes. “I was just going to point out the fact that Angel looks more like your daughter than a sister.”

Opening her eyes, Dahven gave her friend a quizzical look. “Are you seriously outta your mind?”

“No.” She stated. “Look.”

Dahven peered down at her sister. “At what?” She questioned. “You know, I have seen my little sister before.” She commented dryly.

Randy groaned and grabbed her compact and opened it up to her friend.

Dahven looked down at Angel again, then herself, then back to Angel. After a few more seconds she looked at herself.

“Okay.” She said nodding. “I see the same features,” The she shrugged. “That gets passed down from mother and daughter, that can also be shared between sisters.”

“Yes, mother and daughter.” Randy stressed smiling.

“And shared between sisters.” Dahven stressed also.

Randy shrugged her shoulders this time. Leaning back in her chair and closing her eyes, she murmured, “Mother and daughter.” She was going to get the last word in, in this conversation.

Dahven groaned loudly. She looked at her sister again. A tiny flicker of hope raised up inside her. ‘Mother and daughter.’ She thought happily. ‘Someday.’ She admitted dreamily.

‘Someday I’ll be a mother, and Isaac will be the father.’

Angel gurgled loudly, wanting attention, and Dahven gave it to her. Tickling her chin and handing her a small squishy doll to hold in her tiny hands.

She laughed lightly, as Angel held the doll close to her. She in return, held Angel close to her, she was happy with just being a sister for now.
