Shape-shifters

Throughout history there have been shape-shifters of one sort or another. There are the trickster myths of creatures that can change their shape in order to cause problems and play jokes (eg. The Coyote of American Indian lore, the god Loki of Norse mythology, and Bamapama of Australia.

Some cultures believe in the 'changeling', a spirit that takes the place and form of a kidnapped child, the changeling was believed to be left by faeries or elves when they spirited away the infant. Next time you're talking to someone, look closely, they may not be what they seem. Lycanthropes may also fall into the category of Shape-shifter.
