Prince William and the six female teenage friends he has invited on his Mediterranean summer holiday spent their first night on the world's most luxurious yacht watching a movie in its private cinema and bopping away in its self-styled nightclub.
On the 130m long Alexander yacht owned by Greek shipping and oil tycoon John Latsis, the young crowd enjoyed a lunch of chicken, pasta, hamburgers and chips before sitting down to an informal dinner at 8pm.
Then the night fun started as 17-year-old William and his 14-year-old brother Harry danced away to a disco array of Techno music hits after watching the most successful English movie in modern times, The Full Monty.
William's father Prince Charles, however, chose to have an early night after spending most of the first afternoon of his Greek islands cruise snorkling and spear-fishing with his long-term partner, the divorced Camilla Parker Bowles.
Parker Bowles, 51, is on her first private holiday with the 50-year-old heir to the throne and ironically they are on the same yacht which Charles and his sons chose to spend their last family holiday together with Princess Diana before the royal divorce.
Apart from the speculation in royal circles about the growing implications of Prince Charles' determination to have the world accept Parker Bowles as his official partner, this is also the first holiday which really marks William's dawning as a young man.
All eyes are now on the young female friends William has invited on board after flying them to Athens on a private jet – there has been inevitable debate in Britain about how this blond, good-looking young man seems to have come of age.
The female guest list, as expected from the royal family, includes the upper crust country society of Prince Charles.
They include the 19-year-old university student Davina Duckworth-Chad who is a distant cousin of the royal family and is also making a name for herself in modelling circles, 17-year-old Emilia d'Erlanger whose mother is a regional director of the world's top auction house Sothebys, 18-year-old Laura Fellowes who is the daughter of the Queen's private secretary and 16-year-old Mary Forestier-Walker who is the daughter of a former high-ranking military officer with close links to the monarchy.
On board the yacht – which according to reports is the most luxurious private yacht on offer in the world – are Parker Bowles' two children, Tom, 25, who has promised Charles he has put his cocaine-taking habit behind him and Laura, 21.

Prince William has passed his driving test at the first attempt, St James's Palace has confirmed.
Thursday, July 29, 1999
The 17-year-old prince leapt out of the car and punched the air in delight when the instructor gave him the good news, according to The Sun newspaper.
William took the test in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, near the Prince of Wales's home at Highgrove, on Tuesday, the day after he drove to a photocall in front of the world's media.
Prince William's good looks have won him a legion of female fansThe Sun quotes a lorry driver who was parked in a disused airfield when he saw the silver car pull in and witnessed William's delighted reaction.
He realised what he had seen when the L-plates were removed from the car and new green plates for a recently qualified driver put on in their place.
"I knew then he had passed his test. It was fantastic to witness the moment," said the man.
William sat and passed the standard written test that accompanies the driving test on 22 June, the day after his 17th birthday.
Although he has passed his test, his driving lessons are set to continue with instructor Sergeant Chris Gilbert of the Metropolitan Police Driving School, says The Daily Telegraph.
He is still learning advanced skills under the Pass Plus scheme, in which drivers are also taught motorway and night driving.
The Prince is also expected to learn specialist skills in avoiding hijack and threats from terrorists, usually taught to royal chauffeurs.
Prince William has been driving on private roads for several years.
At the age of 13 he beat Damon Hill's track record at a London go-karting centre.
Prince Charles gave him a car for his 17th birthday. The make is being kept officially secret but it is believed he has been given a Volkswagen Golf.

Prince William hits the road for his 17th birthday Prince William has been given a car for his 17th birthday - and is keen to take to the roads as soon as possible.
The teenage royal has reportedly been given a Golf 1.4 litre and has already applied for a provisional driving licence.
William has already driven four-wheel vehicles on private land and in addition drives a motorbike.
It is understood the Prince preferred a "sensible" car to a sports car and his choice could surprise some royal watchers.
St James's Palace refused to discuss the make of car, but several reports claimed it was a Volkswagen Golf 1.4-litre.
Like all learners, he will have to pass a written test on the Highway Code as well as a driving test on the roads.
The birthday will be an ordinary school day for William who is currently sitting mock exams at Eton College.
He is certain to see his brother Prince Harry, 14, who is a fellow boarder in Manor House at Eton, but could also visit nearby Windsor Castle where senior Royals are staying.

The photographer who took the official family photo at Prince Edward and Sophie's wedding has said one of the pictures was digitally altered because Prince William did not look happy enough.
Sir Geoffrey told ITN News: "Prince Edward said he didn't think Prince William looked absolutely his best, so digitally we were able to put in another picture of Prince William from one of the other shots where he is smiling and laughing."

'WONDERFUL' WILLIAM IS A RIGHT ROYAL GODPARENT
Prince William looked right at home holding the baby as he took on a new role as a godparent to six-month-old Prince Konstantine Alexios.
Even with his left arm in a sling after a recent operation on his finger, William, 16, managed to hold the baby son of Crown Prince and Princess Pavlos of Greece during the ceremony at the Greek cathedral of St Sophia, in central London.
He looked relaxed and smiling during the ceremony as he stood with the seven other godparents - Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden; Prince Nikolaos of Greece; Crown Prince Frederik; the Prince of Asturias; Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia; Princess Alexandra von Furstenburg; and family friend Doris Robbs.
The Archbishop of Great Britain, Gregorios, officiated at the hour-long Greek Orthodox Christening, which was followed by a celebration dinner at Claridges.
